North Dakota Water? No Problem

With the help of its state-owned bank, fiscally flush North Dakota is solving its water problems while other states shut off residents' water.

With a record $1.12 billion budget for 2015-17, the State Water Commission plans to tackle $664 million in projects, according to Todd Sando, the state's engineer.

Where those dollars are going will be the topic of discussion Wednesday, when Sando will provide the Legislature's interim Water Topics Overview Committee with an outline of the department’s priority projects for the 2015-17 biennium.

The State Water Commission, meeting at the state Capitol, will be scrutinizing a budget that is significantly heftier than its 2005-07 budget of $126 million from a decade ago.
