Alzheimers disease falls under a larger umbrella of neurological disorders called dementia. Also under the umbrella of dementia are Huntingtons disease, Lewy Body dementia, and loss of cognitive functions caused by brain injury.
While each of these disorders have memory loss in common, each is slightly different. Knowing which your loved one or patient falls under is dire when determining treatment, or when trying to improve quality of life.
Check out the video for a quick tutorial on what makes each form of dementia different, and what makes them the same.

(5,400 posts)I'm guessing you read lots of the support forums for these conditions. Let me ask, are you hearing anything about taking Cilantro extract along with Chlorella for safely removing heavy metals from the body and brain? I'm taking a form of Curcumin that is being studied.

I should probably state up front I'm just a customer of this stuff. I have zero stake in these products.
Vinpocetine is no cure but some some benefit from it's reputed ability to mildly enhance cognition. It has other supposed important benefits in protecting the brain from inflammation as well.

It's very cheap if you shop around. I stopped taking it as I was feeling pretty good. It can improve circulation to the brain to the point that you might feel lightheaded. Lol, I can give you a list of what I currently take if you like.
