The resolution was drafted with the intention of putting the national committee on record in support of the agreement as Congress prepares to take up the issue when members return from their August recess.
As a fallback, James Zogby, the co-chair of the Resolutions Committee, led a move to prepare a letter of support for the president and the Iran agreement that eventually gained signatures from a sizable majority of the members of the national committee. Zogby said Saturday that, in the end, this produced a satisfactory outcome.
We wanted to show support for the president, he said. We found that the best way to show support was a letter that members would sign on to, and the overwhelming majority of DNC members signed onto the letter. This is the President Obama we elected in 2008 who said, I choose diplomacy over conflict, and he did it.
A party spokeswoman and said procedural issues prevented the proposed resolution from being considered. She did not directly address Wasserman Schultzs role in the decision-making. Other Democrats said that it was congresswomans direct opposition that blocked its consideration.

(14,691 posts)most of what I post is just links. I'm not that political a person - I'm more into animals and some other interests. I voted for Bill Clinton twice and all the while wondered what the hell was happening. It wasn't till I found DU that I started to learn about the Democratic Leadership Council and its toxic effects.

(9,083 posts)If she is concerned about how her constituents would feel about a *DNC resolution,* she should resign.

(65,616 posts)We can't even get good leadership, how can we win elections with our own people stabbing us in the back? Fucking Third Way types need to just convert over to the GOP and get the fuck out of the way.
Pathetic.

(33,688 posts)But not unexpected. This can't be blamed on her "constituents." AIPAC owns this in full.

(23,664 posts)The one in my head I mean.
Here I was scratching my head, thinking that this was somehow a ploy to prop up Clinton. But then I remembered that Clinton had supported the Iran deal, albeit somewhat lukewarmly. So I was still confused, even though I smelled a very large rat.
Then it occurred to me, Iran,=> Israel,=> AIPAC, and just about that time I saw your post title. There it was, all along and I missed it.

(32,866 posts)What does it say for a party that most of it's leaders are fake democrats? Send her kids to the front line of any aggression happening now, perhaps when these shills put their own skin in the game they'll stop wanting to profit off the deaths of other people's children. Get rid of her now.
