Radio host Michael Savage is not pleased with how the cities of New York and San Francisco are handling the issue of homelessness, suggesting yesterday that the city simply throw all homeless people in prison or a mental institution so they stop 'peeing in his face.'
“San Francisco has now become virtually uninhabitable because of the bums crapping in the street, because of the robbery and the crime that is being covered up, and I don’t blame the police, I blame liberalism,” Savage said. “Liberalism is a mental disorder and wherever super-liberals take over, the cities go into the toilet bowl. Look at New York, I was just there last week, you take your life in your hands walking around with the folks with the box cutters underneath with the shaking cup…. The word ‘homeless’ itself is a fabrication of the radical left.”
After declaring that the Bible and the U.S. Constitution do not require government to support housing homeless individuals other than in “a jail cell or a mental hospital,” Savage said, “The bums are now so brazen because the cops have been neutralized by the liberals that they are literally, openly defecating and peeing in the streets in front of people.”

(6,409 posts)The mental hospital is impossible, thanks to Ronald Reagan. We don't even have enough space for the truly mentally ill. Jail cells? Great. If you want to dun the taxpayers $30k a year to keep some guy from crapping in the rose bushes, run right over to your state legislature and sell your plan. Oh, don't forget to add more cops and a larger legal system to deal with the influx.

(755 posts)Savage is hurting over what happened to him in the past. He's in a lot of anguish. But he's too looney and he's hurting the GOP. But he is not a Republican. He claims to be a Independent.

(10,164 posts)Jail is a hell of an expensive "room and board." Far cheaper (even for those who only care about money) to provide housing and food stamps. Better still to add in educational programs, access to mental health services, etc.
