(72,790 posts)I think somone should try to deny gun licenses. I'm sure the right would flip out. But, again, I would not support it. Do your job or quit.

(1,539 posts)The US Supreme Court decision was made prior to Kim getting elected and later being sworn into office. So she knew her duties required her to issue same sex marriage licenses. She obviously took an oath to perform a job she had no intentions of doing.
She sits in jail collecting $80K salary doing nothing, costing the public perhaps another $30K a year for prison cost. The public has paid for her legal battles based on her broken oath to do the job. And the County and State are being sued and will pay unknown amounts for her unethical behavior.
She can be free of prison if she resigns, however it seems a good bet that she'll simply stay their collecting her salary and praying that she gets a book deal, TV interview time and will become a multimillionaire as a Christian martyr.
Little doubt the Federal Judge sees what is going on here. He offered many opportunities for her to simply live up to her oath to perform her duties. Now it is perhaps possible her only options for freedom is resignation or waiting until she is voted out of office. In waiting she risks Americans' amnesia. Losing her 15 minutes of fame, everyone simply forgetting and not carrying about her. Perhaps even resignation might not free her immediately. The Judge may choose she serve at least a year for contempt of court.
