Have you noticed that Trump can say anything he feels like saying and he is impervious to criticism from his Republican supporters?
Let's look at that for a minute to see what we can take away from it.
He says whatever he wants for one main reason. He is a rich fuck that doesn't need to cater to donors to run his campaign. And what has been the downside of that?
. In a word: NOTHING!
Now look back at the 2014 elections for a minute. What happened there?
Cowardly Democratic candidates all over the country tucked their tails between their legs and ran away from supporting Obama because their focus groups, advisors, or whatever told them to run away.
I know I am not the only one disgusted by that behavior and it looks like the results of the election would bare that out.
It is time for Democrats to actually say what they believe in and you might be surprised how open people are to bold honesty.
You don't have to be rich and arrogant to say what you actually think! Just look at the results of Bernie for one example.
I suggest some of you try it on for size and see what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised, judging from what has happened with Trump.

(181 posts)this crap on FAUX 365/24. He's just telling them what they want to hear. I really don't think that would work on Dems.

(58,785 posts)both their own positions, and Obama. I strongly suspect the blame can be laid, though, not blanketly on cowardice and lack of principle in the candidates, but on the cynical influence of professional campaign managers and the wealthy donors who pay for them. They came in with the belief that it was not the Democrats' year to win and were unwilling to risk their professional reputations by letting their candidates stray from the "safe" ideological center of nothing.
As for Trump, I like to think he's running as a Republican because, unable to articulate positions, as a Democrat he'd have been forced to fill his first conference hall with his own gas.
