great! Nissan is recalling some of their 2015 Versas...and I got my new one 3 weeks ago!

I heard it briefly on the local news and got totally stressed out!

Reached my saleslady at the Nissan dealer this morning. She was really great (and we found out she was a former co-worker with my husband at City Hall) and she was very helpful. I absolutely love my Versa and always show it off....I was envisioning an awful accident if I didn't turn it in and then starting all over to find another car...

She checked it out for me as she had the VIN number of the car. And my car is not on the recall list!

the problem is some sort of trim piece on the center console that could snag the driver’s foot and interfere with braking or accelerating. Dangerous stuff. However, it is fixable in a 2 hour appt. to adjust the console, but of course just driving to the dealership would have totally freaked me out.

I didn't think it was a problem because I've not experienced any difficulty braking or accelerating. But it was a relief getting the news that mine is not affected.

In retrospect, you would expect that I would have gotten a call or an email or both. Nissan could be liable for LOTS of lawsuits if not life threatening accidents...

1. I'm actually happy when I have a car that requires a recall.

It's tangible proof of liberal accomplishments.

2. Nissan is one of the best when it comes to recalls actually.

I had recalls on both my previous Altima and my current one and both were very minor items (one was software and the other was a timing belt issue, I think) and neither time the dealer gave me anything about it, they fixed it with no problems.

3. why would they contact you if your model isn't subject to the recall?

other than that, my sister looked at those when she was shopping and really liked them too. she ended up finding a Mazda 2 with low miles.

recalling them on the news last night as it was my make, model and year. So, sure, I checked it out with my saleslady...

knowing myself I would probably even go feel around the trim they are talking about just to make sure there isn't anything loose.

6. When I was car shopping back in Feb (I bought a new 2014 Versa Note) I saw some reports of this. . .

Of course, I bought the barebones model . . ."S" with stick, just AM/FM/CD (no fancy bluetooth stuff. . .haha). . .even manual locks and windows! I love the car so far. . . .

I had my first oil change last month and asked about that recall situation - they told me mine was fine actually. I haven't had any problem with that center console even touching my foot when I drive.

That being said, I've been impressed with my gas mileage for such a lower priced vehicle - my last fillup (both city and highway driving) was about 38.8 and i've had one 180 mile trip that averaged nearly 42 mpg. Even if their measuring is off a bit, it isn't by much - I'm constantly surprised at how little gas I need to put into the car (like five gallons) when it registers 1/2 empty.

What color did you get? I love their blue ones - but I settled on a Brick Red one, since that was all they had on the lot and I was buying one without the bells/whistles and last year's model, even if the car was still new. I think I saved about 2k on that deal.

Of course, my gas mileage now is much less because of the air conditioning. Boy, does that drink the gas! But that happens with any car. And we've actually not had that bad a summer so far...stay tuned...

I like the color. . .and you are right, the air does suck the gas - I've tried to minimize using mine, but have needed it a few times.

Yours looks quite sharp! You know, i read a TON of reviews, discussion posts, etc. before settling on mine and occasionally read a few people complaining about slow acceleration - but compared to the smaller cars (like the Chevy Spark and that little Mitsubishi Mirage) the Versa has (I think) good pick up speed (109 hp). My last car was a 1997 Mirage and I loved that car too and kept it 17 years. I tend to try to buy new and just keep it. . .

Enjoy your new ride!!

I've experienced them a handful of times. Most recently with my '04 Honda Civic. Needed the airbag replaced.

So I take it you're loving your car?

I'm so happy after driving a car that regularly had been breaking down due to age and my mechanic saying "one more repair and get a new one" and he was right. I was in denial, a little bit. Now that i have the new Versa I am so thrilled. No more anxiety about what the hell can happen now. I was paying more in repairs each year than it was worth and that's stupid...

My bank account will take a hit but I can pay it off after 3 months with no penalty. So that's settled...I got a better deal money wise by taking a "loan" for 3 months and paying it completely off, or just paying cash completely at purchase. So I went with it. So what, it was cheaper

8. I bought an '08 Nissan in '07

Aside from when that asshole hit me, I've had exactly one problem with it: driver window motor went out, a known problem in Zs. Had it replaced with a non-OEM motor. It does seem to be invisible, but that's not a mechanical problem.

My husband has had his Nissan (Infiniti) since '06 and I think there was a problem with the dash, which was recalled and replaced. We both love our Nissans!

had a great run, tho. When I went back to the Nissan dealer I had researched and found that the Altima wasn't as great today as it was in 1998, so I asked my mechanic about the Versa and he said it was a great car. And he only fixes cars, he doesn't sell them. Love that guy.

12. I'd been driving a '98 Pontiac Grand Prix which I loved

It was my third Pontiac, but after it had some major steering rack problems while I was driving it, my husband said It Had To Go. I was looking at two Pontiacs even less practical than the Nissan I'm driving, but all Nissans seem to have few issues and the one I got had stellar reviews from every mechanic I spoke with; just the window motor, which is minor compared to steering rack issues on every one of my three much-loved Pontiacs.

If you're as happy with yours as we are with ours, well, you'll be pretty darn happy!

Versas are great cars. Good gas milage, reliable, and adorable. Is yours a sedan or hatchback (I think they call that the "Note" now??)?

I love it when they're so new and shiny. Mine is a 2009. She still glistens.

Parking is nice since they are a little more compact.
