1. It was actually the second complex built for the military during FDR’s presidency.

In the 1930s, a large complex was commissioned and constructed in Washington’s D.C. Foggy Bottom neighborhood to house the ever-growing U.S. War Department, but before it was even completed, the army determined it to be too small for its needs (this building is now home to the U.S. State Department). As the ranks of the War Department continued to swell, they began to branch out across the city, and were eventually being housed in 17 different buildings. In early 1941, Brigadier General Brehorn Somervell, head of the construction branch of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps, was tasked with finding a permanent solution to the space problem. On July 17, Somervell met with architect George Bergstrom, giving him just three days to come up with a design that would accommodate 40,000 employees and 10,000 cars.

of all the Kennedy/Lincoln coincidences.

Some are quite odd, although many have been debunked by Snopes.

vice versa. But I think that was debunked.

But there are a lot of similarities. Wow, this thing with the Pentagon is really odd though.

Hey, in other news lol...Serena is gonna take it, but I have to admit I hope Azarenka gets to the final because she's on fire. Be a good match!

I think she's the only woman with a chance against Serena.

But I know Serena is going to take this one. Oh hell to the yeah.

364 other coincidences did not occur.

But among, say, the following four dates:

Groundbreaking of World Trade Center.
Completion of World Trade Center.
Groundbreaking of Pentagon.
Completion of Pentagon.

There is a 10% chance that the attack would occur on one of those dates.

Whenever a "one in a million thing" happens to me, I reflect sadly on the 999,999 that didn't.

As humans, we can't help ourselves looking for patterns.

Here's a funny...on my birthday, (not that I was alive for all these events), Nagasaki was bombed, the Sharon Tate murders happened, and Ford took office after Nixon resigned. I was actually in Spain when Nixon resigned so I heard the news on my birthday. I still have the Madrid newspaper. I think there were some other August 9 happenings...but I may have purposely tuned them out.

I became a bit bemused about all this lol.
