I'm not going to take up too much space in GD for this, but I hardly ever go to the pet group, and
. well, I AM Mr. Mickey's Mom. I always will be. Forever and ever in my heart he goes on living, just like his departed sister, Mallory, his nemesis sister, Scoobie, his loving big sister, Jessie
Heart aches now, but this in time will pass. I just want to say one thing about my boy, who lived such a wonderful life with me that I took him up for my DU name. The things we see in life where nature on its own is concerned
These are lessons for us. If we watch animals, they forgive, they have unconditional love. They shape and mold us, just like my heart was re-arranged.
There will never be another one like this boy. So many DU posts with him on my lap at the board. I dedicate this post to him.

(20,453 posts)I was sort of blubbering when I wrote it.
I like you bi-line. I feel sometimes like I have a heart big as a house for these soft creatures.

(2,427 posts)He lived a long life! I didn't do the math until now. Have a good evening and squeeze the nearest fuzzer for me.
Cheers!

(3,263 posts)If he is anything like our cats he returned it two fold to you. Remember the good times. Maybe write them down for lasting memories . This helped me a long time ago pre the two cats I have now with my buddy at the time and I still have the paper with all his funny habits to fondly look back on when I look at his picture

(13,324 posts)Though at least he had quite a long life - I only know personally of a few cats and dogs who lasted that long.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)I think indoor cats who are drenched with good vibes (unforeseen whatever they went through before you adopted them) live longer.
I've had three cats who made it to 18. Jessie, Scoobie, who were in the company of him. I sort of think that the battles drama increases them, stimulates them and makes them want to live another day to fight another fight (if you can call it fighting
it was just high drama to us).
When the girls died, one at a time, he was the last in line. He sort of waned for lack of company while being older. Yet, I just couldn't get another kitten at that point.

(3,818 posts)of your beloved Mr. Mickey. I lost a beloved tuxedo cat last year (age 18.7 years). I miss him so much too. Of course Mr. Mickey will live forever in your heart along with Mallory. I just got a new tuxedo kitten last month, Tyrion. He is different from my other tuxedo Queequeg, much more laid back. (((HUGS)))

(20,453 posts)Are you an X-Files fan? I remember Scully's dog that she ended up with on that series had that name, right?
TuxedoKat
(3,818 posts)Queequeg being one of the main characters. I was reading it at the time when I got the kitten and so impressed with the book that I had to use that name. Tyrion's name comes from The Game of Thrones.

(65,391 posts)My cats typically live for about 19 years, too. It's wonderful to have them for so long, but it is never, never enough, and the longer we have them the more we love them, and the harder it is to lose them.
My four furkids will get extra cuddles tonight in honor of Mr. Mickey.

(11,945 posts)You must have taken very good care of him, because 19 1/2 is a long, long life for a kitty. Yes, your heart will ache for a while. It's hard to lose our wordless little companions. Every pet is a gift, if we know how to receive it. I like the way you put it - your heart was re-arranged. Sometimes after a loved one passes, we can feel their presence for days afterward. When that happens, there's nothing to do but pour out love, because that's the essence of what we share. He loved, and loves, you as much as you loved him. If that's you in the photo, you look very sweet, too. Be good to yourself, MrMickeysMom. And godspeed to MrMickey's sweet little soul.

(580 posts)I honor your lives together and that you care so very deeply about him and the rest of the pussycats you have included in your life. He had the best life any cat could wish for - of that I have no doubt.
I know the pain too well of losing your baby. I've lost 3 cats and 4 dogs in the past 6 years - all lived to ripe old ages and had lives lived on their terms filled with love. But the void is amazing and each one leaves their own irreplaceable hole in your heart.
I send love, hugs, light and hope that you are proud of the gifts you gave Mr. Mickey...

I'm so sorry. I hold you in my arms. Go on and cry on my shoulder. I feel this pain with you. Nothing hurts like this.
Mr. Mickey was so, so lucky to have a good Mom like you.
My wife and I are sending you comfort, courage and healing vibes. I hate the sadness. There's only one way through this, and that's through it.
If there's any comfort at all in this desolate universe in knowing that there are people that are feeling for you right now, please feel our sharing of your sadness.
I have to go and check on all 3 of our babies now. They all break your heart sooner or later. Peace to you. You're such a great Mom.
