Police in Chicagos Darien suburb said that they were investigating a possible hate crime after an elderly Sikh American was assaulted by a man, who referred to him as a terrorist and Bin Laden.
Just days before the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Inderjit Singh Mukker said that he was driving to the grocery store when a man repeatedly cut him off, according to The Hindu.
Mukker pulled over to the side of the road to let the man go around him. But instead, the man stopped, reached into Mukkers car and began punching him. Mukker lost consciousness, and suffered a fractured cheekbone and lacerations to his cheek, a statement from the Sikh Coalition explained.
After being transported to the hospital, Mukker recalled that the man yelled Terrorist, go back to your country, Bin Laden! and other racial slurs.

Whatever our bickering about the Democratic primary candidates it's so clear we have to stay united against the hate Republicans spew every day.

(23,946 posts)do folks who recognize the evil of unregulated corporatism not believe the corporations owning America's unregulated free speech media are not the same?
Democratic candidates need to speak out boldy and loudly and courageously about the failure of the media no what that failure means to law and order.
Free speech was never meant to protect violent free hate speech, and now given free advertising.

(3,447 posts)The assumption is that our politicians are somehow unable to recognize this evil. That...is silly. Our politicians are many things, but true, actual stupidity is rare among them. There's calculated stupidity naturally, but another name for that is calculated evil (or stupidity as a disguise for evil, as this case is).
They're quite aware of what is happening. They're getting paid to allow it to happen. As one of the old mob bosses said, "Politicians are the cheapest of all servants to corrupt."
