Sure we might be able to contain it for awhile but it has patience. At the rate we're going humankind may disappear and it will escape after a much shorter wait.

In the end one never knows... I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Worst case scenario: It destroys the human race.

I am betting on something in between the best and worst case scenarios being the most possible.
