Anyone watching the 9-11 Replay of NBC coverage

I know news people are trained to be calm - but Katie Couric sounds like a moron...just saying. And Matt Lauer - know it all - kept saying stuff - and then film and eye witnesses proved him wrong.

these observances. This wallowing in grief does not allow for healing. In the ME, people observe anniversaries of deaths almost like an obsessive action. We are becoming like this. When so many die because of violent actions and wars, I think the inability to move on after a reasonable period of grief, keeps whole cultures mired in the past and unable to move past to other ways of resolving conflict. That day was traumatic, to be sure, but there are generations subsequent to that occurrence to be raised. I would love to see them learn that we must seek peace and that no society can move forward by forever ripping scabs off of its wounds and demanding unending vengeance be perpetrated on any group at hand it wishes.

That was Republican Christmas.

Not a chance these incompetent assholes would have had a job after the first term without 9/11:

...but the broadcast from that morning (available on Youtube) is pretty amazing, IMO. Within 20 minutes of the second plane crashing (and before the towers even collapsed) the free-form discussion in the studio correctly hit on all the key elements: Islamic terrorism; hijackers; Osama bin Laden; al-Qaeda. Professional news organizations had to stumble over themselves to avoid any mention of these things until they had 'official' confirmation.

Without the need to be politically correct, the Stern show may have been the first media entity on that day which correctly 'reported' what was really going on.

as well (they used to have a running camera in the studio).. but that one is edited down & interrupted with after-the-fact commentary. The audio-only version is totally raw and honest.

I was in a meeting when I heard about the first plane crashing and went back to my office to listen on the radio and being a fan of Howard that's what my radio was on. And you're right, they hit on all key elements, while other media outlets were stumbling.
