... but it works on French Bread too.

San Francisco sourdough, however, is best by far with butter.

Mais en rentrant, je passe devant une petite boulangerie ouverte sur le trottoir. Impossible de résister au parfum des croissants qui vient de sortir du four. Trop tentant !

Sure. And I exercise every day--an hour of cycling in the Vincennes Woods. But, coming home, I pass in front of a little bakery that opens onto the sidewalk. Impossible to resist the perfume of croissants that have just come out of the oven. Too tempting!

C'est necessaire de l'eviter. C'est peut-etre necessaire de choisir un autre rue? Ou peut-etre de pedale sur pneus a plat?

There is a cheese company that makes Sante cheese and it's slogan is "sante means hello". I grumble every time I walk past it.

Sometimes, when you walk past a 'fromagerie', you get a whiff that goes right to your head. Strong stuff!

And, then there is Munster. Oh, là là. A cheese that'll tickle your taste buds and give you 'cheese breath' all day! LOL!

The smell is pure stinky feet but the taste is heavenly. Creamy, utterly decadent and delish!

along with the crust. Too often they are just thick bread in a long loaf. NOT pain.

"la forme mais pas le fond".

They've got the shape down, but just can't seem to get the texture right. I think it's all in how they handle the dough.

It's truly an art, as numerous videos on YouTube will attest.

The American interpretation of 'croissants' is especially droll.

It's only been a few weeks since I was in France partaking of that wonderful treat. I'm sitting here drooling as I look at these pictures, so grateful that memories of smell are long-lasting as I'm basking in the aroma while I recreate the taste experience.

but I know what you mean about drooling. I'd much rather window shop in front of a bakery/pastry shop in Paris than at the show windows of a fashion house.
