She got huge applause when she put The Donald in his place about his "face" comment. When he heard the audience applaud, he actually looked embarrassed to me.

I do think the candidates each got a contingency of their own deluded followers. Most hate Trump logic does not work with this crowd.

He was never in the lead because of his deep thoughts. It has always been about his willingness to spew what the average republican voter believes no matter how repugnant every sane person in the world finds it.

Maybe you are right and this will be the beginning of his end. I am betting no. My money is on the base feeling even more strongly that this is the guy that is willing to tell the establishment that they despise to go screw themselves.

35. Just a little side story

Today I was at a clients house who is a fox news dittohead. On his coffee table he had a book called Obamas accomplishments with a nice photo of Obama on it. I was shocked to see it thinking he was actually trying to inform himself. I picked it up and started to thumb through it and it was just full of blank pages.

I will admit it made me chuckle mostly cause it fooled me but this is the mindset we are talking about. They are so delusional they can't find anything to admit as an accomplishment when the reality is agree or disagree it is hard to ignore that he has been one of if not the most productive president in years.

The party is blinded by hate and have been stewing in it for a long time now they are looking for someone that will stand up and voice all of the bile that they have been holding onto and Trump is doing it.

Eventually I think you are right and the party will finally get serious but I don't think we are near that point yet. For now I think the clown show is exactly what they want and trump is delivering it better than anyone else.

His core supporters are not in that audience. They're rubes. The best effect here is to give the others ammo and to ramp him up out of panic so he goes over an edge.

He got put in his place by a woman. He is nothing without his shocking rudeness. And having to backtrack with Jeb's wife and Carly did him in.

He was funny....that joke on Rand's looks was the moment of the night.

There were multiple occasions where candidates acknowledged he was right...birthright citizenship might not stand up to a supreme court test, etc.

He successfully turned attacks on their ears...Rubio foreign policy attack to Rubio turns into Rubio never votes. Rand Paul attack on Fiorino looks comment turns into the funniest joke of the night. None of the casino bankruptcy attacks stuck.

I just didn't see an attack that wasn't refuted.

Combine that with 2 things:

1). He needs no money.
2). Recent polling suggests he is many peoples second choice.

He doesn't have to dominate, just not drop the ball....and he didn't.

Thought I did not watch the entire debate. One part that stood out to me was Rand Paul calling out other candidates hypocrisy in what their states laws are vs. what they were preaching. The Donald was unscathed in that obviously. All he had to do was not pee in his pants, which it seems he pulled off

however, he's in a room of a lot of his "haters". I believe he's appealing to many "moderates" and others on the outside because he will say what they what want to hear... He may go down slightly in numbers but I wouldn't count him out just yet.

He's falling flat and he knows it. I've seen him blush in embarrassment quite a few times. Not even the makeup can hide it.

The rest of the people came prepared with facts and figures and left him eating their dust.

I'm sure he'll be tweeting like a madman tonight. I'm sure he feels highly insulted. And he'll get all his dismayed people back with those tweets. He's not going down. At least not yet.

Carly Fiorina, as much as I dislike her, handed him his head more than once. She's the Dragon Lady tonight. And she never once talked directly to him or said anything about him. When she was asked about his remark about her face she simply said that women everywhere heard him, and that every woman heard Jeb say women's health issued didn't need funding. She got a huge applause with that.

I used to have a woman boss just like her. And I would absolutely hate working under Fiorina too. But she won quite a few points tonight.

And I clearly remember she criticized Barbara Boxer's hair when she was running against her. She said something like, "Just look at her hair. What's that all about?"
