Board members ousted, but Southside mascot change proceeds (AR)

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A committee at Fort Smith's Southside High School is set to begin work on a mascot change, even though two members of the school board lost re-election bids last week.
The school board this summer told Southside to change its "Rebels" mascot to something less controversial. A panel opens meetings Monday with Principal Wayne Haver in charge.
City voters removed two school board members who voted against the mascot, but Haver says the panel must still find a replacement ...
