Fox News: guy who asked Trump birther-question was a liberal plant

http://www.salon.com/2015/09/21/meet_the_trump_truthers_media_figures_insist_bigoted_trump_questioner_was_just_a_liberal_plant/

I see just one problem with that talking-point:

Suppose this was an evil trap, concocted to get Trump to cater to the conspiracy-theorists of the birther-movement. And poor Trump went "full-retard".

But then again, what difference does it make whether the birther-question came from a birther or a liberal plant?
Would Trump have given a different answer to the very same question in the very same situation and to the very same audience if only someone else had asked it?

Trump himself doesn't think that the guy was a plant, but Fox News needs a new scandal-of-the-day to keep that perpetual outrage alive.

He should have corrected the moron. Obama is American and so what if he's Muslim which he isn't.
That is all he had to say. Fuck Fox and fuck Trump!!

Kind of a weird question to ask sine the president is not running. Thankfully trump wasn't smart enough to realize that.

Do these RW lunatics really believe their own political system is so weak that a foreigner could fool both the Senate and the entire Federal System and become President twice. They all know it's bullshit but it serves their purpose - discrediting a great President because he is African-American. They are racist to the core - and the corporate media is no different.

He was asked what he do with all the Muslims here and the asker mentioned O as an example.

I find tomatoes to be consistently liberal, particularly the tiny green variety. Very sweet and mild. I wanted to grow something conservative in my garden, so I went into the plant place and asked for a grits plant. They looked at me funny.

sounded like someone typical of their base, not like a liberal. To spin the questioner as a liberal pretending to be a birther rather than a conservative who actually is a birther, seems a little ridiculous.

... nothing to do with excusing or justifying Trump's answer/response. It is only to deflect responsibility for the crazy guy. "He's not a Republican, he's a liberal playing a dirty trick". It works on a lot of levels for them.

They just invent "facts" that they want to be true, and repeat them over and over again under the guise of "commentary." Now this "fact" will be repeated over and over again.

It's like Himmler's wet dream. Nothing gets fact-checked anymore. Even the "fact-checkers" are making stuff up.
