UMaine reacts to white supremacist posters on campus

ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Last Wednesday, some posters popped up across the University of Maine Campus in Orono recruiting for the White Student Union. It's labeled as a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League and other notable organizations, which sparked many complaints from the university community.
The Vice President of Student Affairs said the White Student Union posters urged white people to join the organization reading, "you have to the right to your heritage." The group is not a school supported organization and only displayed a non-affiliated email address as a contact. UMaine Officials say freedom of speech allows for any message or ad to be posted on the University's public bulletin boards.
