The feeling that came over me the day I saw Kristen Lindsey's infamous Facebook post still haunts me. The picture of her dangling a dead cat from the end of her bow, that inexplicable and inexcusable smile of victory on her face, sent me at once into a deep state of grief and outrage. The fact that Ms. Lindsey is a veterinarian made her heartless act even more perplexing. How could someone, whose sworn oath is to "do no harm," do so in such a manner?
As Tiger's name and story unfolded, we held fast to the hopes that criminal charges would bring closure to this tragedy. When the Austin County DA failed to even charge Ms. Lindsey with a crime, my outrage began to sink into something far worse; a sense of hopelessness.
My friends at the Animal Legal Defense Fund, sharing our outrage and sense of radical injustice, immediately took action. ALDF filed a complaint with the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, and then testified at Lindsey's hearing, explaining that she committed the crime of animal cruelty. The vet board found Lindsey in violation of their code of ethics, but has not yet decided what sanctions to impose.
At their October meeting, the board will announce the basis for the violation and the sanctions to be imposed. We are very thankful to the TBVME for taking this case seriously. As such, her license to practice must be permanently revoked. As those who love and value the life of every cat, whether they are "owned" or not, our community's voice needs to be heard loudly and clearly.

Cruel idiot did that for no reason.
At least the poor Tiger is up in Cat Heaven, where the treats and toys are plentiful.
