We are sharing our property with someone currently homeless

I just came in from the afternoon feeding session. I just discovered the work. We had 1/2 inch of rain early this morning so there are tracks in the mud of coming and going.

S/he is digging a small cave under our rail road tie retaining wall. We hope to position the camera and have photos of the work in progress by the weekend.

The suspect probably looks like this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023933687

family. I wish I could get one to live in my yard. I think the dogs will prevent that, though.

We had acreage in Michigan & I always threw out my table scraps as well as things that went stale... The ground hogs that came to our place loved the fruit loop cereal.... Here in Arizona I had put bird seed on the ground for the quail & looked outside to see a family of Javelinas eating it...

Yes, they look cute and cuddly and it is fun to watch them play, but let a dog or cat corner one and see what happens. It ain't pretty. We had one living under my neighbors shed and more than one neighborhood cat had run ins with it over the course of it's residency.

They picked a good spot. It is on the other side of the fence out of sight. They have never tried to come over the fence that we know of. Now the racoons go anywhere they want after dark. A few times I have forgotten to lock the shed door where the bird food is. Talk about ungrateful guests making a mess.

We still pound on the sliding door to clear the area anytime we do let the dogs out.
