to the pillars where the Hajj is completed by throwing rocks at the "devils" represented by the pillars were closed for one reason or another. The walk around the Kaaba has been made considerably safer. It's the other stuff they need to work on, apparently.

The article I read made it sound like routine road repair that hadn't been completed in time.

few roads and one or more was temporarily closed. I only glanced at it so I can't say more.

due simply to the number of people in such a small place. By custom, Royals do not attempt to upstage the pilgrims and in many cases go as common people.
