Why doesn't Romney discuss the details of his work with the 2002 Olympics?

Romney avoids discussing the details of his tenure at Bain Capital and won't produce any records to substantiate his claims of creating thousands of jobs. Romney avoids discussing his time as Governor of Massachusetts like the plague and, as he left office, his handlers took away the computers and removed any paper trail that might shed light on what he did in the Governor's office.

He doesn't mention his time with the Olympic Games except in the vaguest terms. His campaign website mentions only the following:

"...Romney first gained national recognition for his role in turning around the 2002 Winter Olympics. With the 2002 Games mired in controversy and facing a financial crisis, Romney left behind a successful career as an entrepreneur to take over as President and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee...
In his three years at the helm in Salt Lake, Romney erased a $379 million operating deficit, organized 23,000 volunteers, galvanized community spirit and oversaw an unprecedented security mobilization just months after the September 11th attacks, leading to one of the most successful Olympics in our country's history. ..."

According to the Romney Research Center, a website that serves as a kind of clearing house of truth about all things Romney (reminds me a little of the old Bush Watch website regarding Bush) the television contracts that formed the basis of the revenue for funding the Salt Lake City Olympics were negotiated BEFORE Romney took over, although Romney nonetheless takes credit for rescuing the Olympics. Also according to the Romney Research Center, the $379 million deficit that Romney takes credit for erasing was largely the result of a gift of $300 million in taxpayer money from the George Bush administration. Romney benefited from a government bailout of the U.S. Treasury and yet takes credit for the result.

There are a lot of things that Romney will not discuss. And if you dare to ask, you are accused of launching a nauseating character attack.

Thanks for digging into the Olympic story. I had forgotten about the $300 million taxpayer bailout from Bush.
