(16,845 posts)Stephen Palazzo, voted against part of the Sandy Aid package as well, after all of us down here got bailed out by FEMA after Katrina. If anybody should be sensitive to the needs of people who go through a major disaster, it should be the people down here. Most of us are sensitive about it, and a lot of people were horrified by what Palazzo did, but come election time, they voted for the motherfucker again. That just turns my stomach.

(2,419 posts)and I remember clearly. I would never advocate leaving fellow Americans who are suffering from the effects of a disaster to fend for themselves but here are the folks who did. And for those who say its just the words of "politicians"...remember, these representatives weren't voting "no" just to satisfy themselves-this satisfied their constituents back home who voted them in to office and who enthusiastically supported their statements like "we shouldn't have to bail out people in the northeast", or "if we give them aid what programs will be be cutting to pay for this?" or "the relief bill is full of pork". So don't say it's just the politicians. I say give them the aid they need but it shouldn't be without a clear reminder of where they stood when others needed help. This coming from the resident of a state that ranks 50th in terms of what gets returned in Federal funds compared to what we send in revenue. AND YOU BASTARDS HAD THE GAUL to hesitate when we needed help.

(70,504 posts)"I'm all for helping the people in New Jersey. I don't really remember me voting that way," Graham said.
Pressed further, he said: "Anyway, I don't really recall that, but I'd be glad to look and tell you why I did vote no, if I did."

(39,343 posts)That should be the new rule if you vote against disaster funding for another state and then request it for your own state.
Either that or make him sit in a dunk tank and let his constituents throw balls to dunk him in exchange for relief.
