UConn Kid Refuses To Leave Cafeteria Until He Gets Mac And Cheese, Gets Arrested

What happens when a college student’s desire for bacon jalapeño mac and cheese inhibits his mind and overwhelms his rationale? Justice rains down upon him.

This nine-minute video—which feels so much shorter than that—shows a kid as he’s being asked to leave the University of Connecticut’s Union Street Market. The manager says he brought an open container of beer into the eatery, which isn’t allowed. The kid, who’s probably named Chad or Luke or something, invokes the rights of America, which do not cover that. The manager asks for the kid’s age; the kid says he’s 19. This would be a good point for sweatpants man to cut his losses, but we’re still only about one minute in.

The kid notices that he’s being filmed. “This is getting posted somewhere, and you’re gonna look like a fuckin’ tool,” the kid says to the manager. The kid, who cannot pull off the socks-and-sandals look, shoves the manager and calls him a fag. The manager repeatedly removes himself from escalating the situation. Various people inside the Union Street Market—chefs, fellow students, possible friends—try to calm the kid down and get him outside before he gets in trouble. He rebuffs all attempts. This tyranny will not stand. Give him his fuckin’ bacon jalapeño mac and cheese, man.

At 5:08, a guy comes up and tries to pull the kid away. He sounds like he’s calling him Luke. Damn, I was right.

A crowd gathers. The standoff continues until 6:15, when the kid pushes the manager one more time. A chef puts the kid in a full nelson and takes him down. The manager assists, and together, they pin him to the floor. A cop shows up a minute later.

Hope he spent the evening in jail. I bet mom and dad rushed down and bailed him out though.

After being shoved three times the manager should have clocked the kid or thrown bim through the window.

He was recently arrested on Sept 14th for disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.

On Labor Day weekend he was arrested for disorderly conduct for yelling racial epithets at a police officer.

This article says he's a student at UMass Amherst (not UConn), but it's most likely the same guy (Luke Vincent Gatti from Bayville NY)

It seems they are giving him an awful lot of latitude. I wonder why.

I'm thinking the brat is also on Vyvanse or something speedy.

Arrested two weeks ago on Phillips Street for disorderly conduct (which included calling a detective the N-word), this time around Mr. Gatti seemed to go out of his way to get arrested yet again on that same notorious street, and when taken back to the police station, assaulted an officer.

If Entitled Drunk Kid is at one end of the spectrum (pure evil), then Cafeteria Manager is at the other. One of the most sympathetic characters I’ve seen – calm, reasonable, respectful. Has his entire livelihood and existence shit on by a little drunk shithead and just stands there and takes it, trying to explain the situation and get him out of his cafeteria.

Apparently Phillips Street, alcohol, Luke Gatti and late night weekends, make for a bad combination. Perhaps because he's only 18-years-old, but still no excuse for such outlandish behavior.

Arrested two weeks ago on Phillips Street for disorderly conduct (which included calling a detective the N-word), this time around Mr. Gatti seemed to go out of his way to get arrested yet again on that same notorious street, and when taken back to the police station, assaulted an officer.

With his father looking on, Luke Gatti was arraigned this morning before Judge John Payne who set bail at $250, taken out of the $1,000 bail posted over the weekend to get out of jail.

Noting the arrest only two weeks ago Judge Payne said to Gatti, "I'm a little concerned you're going to pull a trifecta before the month is over."

Gatti will appear in Eastern Hampshire District Court with his hired lawyer on October 15 for a pre-trial conference.
