It's so easy to be courageous when it never actually happened to you but you get to blather about it later. It's just as likely he'd have crapped his skivvies.

I don't know.. what does Bobby do anyway? Rick Perry would have done at least three things of which he would have forgotten the third. Santorum would have..uhhh...TMI.

You hear about people being lined up and shot one at a time by a gunman. I don't get it. Are you not thinking while you are being lined up? I understand you don't want to draw attention to yourself so you remain quiet, but once the first and second person in line are shot in the head, do you just stand there waiting your turn?

Either attack the guy or run. One or the other, but don't just stand there. Her opinion was that she would just stand there. She wouldn't want to make the guy more upset.

A famous example was the Wichita Massacre when the Carr brothers invaded a home in Kansas. They forced five 20 something friends from college to strip naked and go in a closet. Then for the rest of the night they were brought out one and two at a time and beaten with a golf club and sexually assaulted. They were robbed by using their ATM cards to withdraw money, then they were forced into a car (men in the trunk), and driven to a snowy football field, still naked. They knelt in a row while each in turn was shot in the head.

One woman miraculously survived when the bullet deflected off a hair clip, fractured her skull but didn't kill her. She crawled naked to a nearby house to get help. The brothers were identified by DNA evidence. The surviving woman contracted herpes from the attack. The Carr brothers were sentenced to death in 2002, but those sentences have been overturned and are being fought over in appeals. The Supreme Court may hear their case this term.

So the question is if you're a strong 20 something man, kneeling naked in a snowy field fourth in line with your friends and you hear a shot and see the first in line fall over dead, do you kneel there waiting for your turn to be shot in the head?

I guess in this case they were just completely in shock after being tortured for so many hours.

Then you hear about the people who react quickly to these incidents. They often turn out to be military or former military like the guys on the French train.

We need to think of this though. If you are in a classroom and a guy with a gun tells everyone to line up. You need to be thinking what you will do when the first person is shot. Either fight or flee, but don';t just stand there waiting to get shot.

Shock and fear. Police and soldiers don't freeze up as much because they have undergone training.

People are always quick to say what they would do in a certain situation, but the honest truth is that no one knows what they will do until it happens.

The answer I think is to think about it so if the issue ever comes up, you might be able to react more than you would otherwise.
