Here is the new post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027245608
It was fun.
OS

(51,308 posts)Imo, that deserved a hide.
I wasn't on the jury, but that pic has no place here.

Number23
(24,544 posts)post an opinion different from theirs has over 5 THOUSAND posts in that forum just in the last 90 days.
I've never seen anything like it. Just racing up and down damn near every thread confronting every single person who dares to see things differently from them and often over the stupidest, most pointless things. THAT'S the kind of person that should trash GDP
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)cooly, without breaking rules, what is your problem with it?
If they are breaking rules, they will get timed out. Otherwise this forum is here for conversations and there are no limits on how many you can be involved in.
Or are you just concerned that they are beating up on your favorite candidate a bit too much? I think there are places you can go where you don't have to see that. Or you could put this person on ignore.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I have never declared any support for a candidate. And yet, here you are with this bullshit.
And my comment had much more to do with that person's behavior more than anything else and here you are willingly taking it to the next combative and pointless level for absolutely no reason. Proving exactly why so many have trashed that forum and avoid it like the plague.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)You did.
Number23
(24,544 posts)Did you somehow skip that in your desire to respond to me?
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)This thread is about Omaha Steve saying he is leaving the forum
Number23
(24,544 posts)then that certainly explains your posts in both.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)By sub-thread, I thought maybe you meant this thread was a sub-thread to the original one that Steve got a hide on, or even the Bernie one that he was upset about.
Now I got it. Thanks
Oh, and sub-threads (if that is what this is) are not always appropriate as they distract from the OP, as in this case. I wouldn't call this a sub-thread as much as a thread drift.

Number23
(24,544 posts)Go to bed. Get some sleep and have a great night.
snooper2
(30,151 posts)can we discuss it here?
Number23
(24,544 posts)and joking about bi-polar disorder. And from an alleged therapist/doctor/PE teacher/whatever to disadvantaged and ever so grateful minorities so why not?? It can't possibly make any of this more absurdly stupid.
And judging by the notes, all of this did absolutely nothing but draw about 100 times more attention to the person I made the fairly benign comment about re: their insistently combative and massive number of posts in a particular forum. Gotta fucking it.
You're still one of my favorites. For all the wrong reasons, but a favorite nonetheless.
BainsBane
(53,066 posts)That would be nice. I haven't seen that happen.
polly7
(20,582 posts)I thought everyone who is a member here is free to post where and when they like.
That person is very interested and invested in the issues there, obviously.
Number23
(24,544 posts)You seem to have made it your personal mission lately to "correct" me whenever you can. Please don't waste the little bit of time you have here between time outs worrying about my posts or feeling you need to engage me for any reason whatsoever.
TIA!
polly7
(20,582 posts)I have no personal mission with you ....... I've responded to you how many times - twice, three times ever?
I waste my time in all sorts of strange ways - that poster you're dissing happens to be a friend who is intelligent, passionate and honest.
Soooooo ........... I'll comment on comments wrt that poster whenever and wherever. Sorry you feel so victimized over something you felt the need to start.
Number23
(24,544 posts)It's my ever so helpful friendly tip of the day.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Wtf are you talking about?
And why did OS's thread turn into all about your displeasure at a 'squatter' and you?
Number23
(24,544 posts)I truly don't.
And this thread become about me when you decided to AVENGE(!!!!) someone's honor that you think I had the audacity to besmirch even though the only identifier I gave was that this person had over FIVE THOUSAND POSTS in one forum in 90 days. The fact that you seem to so quickly know who I was referring to and felt the need to immediately rush to their defense doesn't do anything but show you must see the problem too.
No, it became about you when you decided to follow someone's posting habits so closely and try to 'besmirch' them over it ........ seems strange, don't it? I think so, and yes, I'll defend anyone I believe posts in good faith against slurs obviously meant to insult them.
You same to care a lot.
But I won't help you derail OS's thread anymore.
Number23
(24,544 posts)What *I* did was notice a posters' name in a single thread about 30 times arguing with every single person that posted in it and checked their profile where I saw the info on the number of times they'd posted which is freely available to everyone on this web site.
Not once did I engage that person or follow them around, just like NOT ONCE have I EVER engaged you. And yet, here I am once again having yet another dull and pointlessly combative conversation with polly7.
Are we clear yet or is there anything else you need help with?
polly7
(20,582 posts)(but weren't brave enough to actually name names, unless I missed that). That kind of passive-aggressive bs. bothers me when it's aimed at someone I respect and know posts in good faith. The 'darling' also bothers me a lot, as we both know it's just more of the same, and really brings back terrible memories, so please don't.
I don't care 'who' did it ......... it just happens that 'you' did, so I responded. This is a message board. People post, others reply. Anything about that you need help with?
Now bye, bye. Glad I could be of assistance.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I don't see someone who refuses to let anyone post in a thread without chasing after damn near every single person within that s/he disagrees with -- to the tune of sometimes going after several DOZEN posters in a single thread -- as a good poster. But that's just me.
But judging by your own behavior, it's no wonder that you not only see this person as a good poster but ran, not walked, RAN to defend them. And are still continuing to do so, even after your noble, ever so SELFLESS edit to no longer "derail OS's thread anymore.." which you are apparently unable to commit to. Not that anyone here expected you to.
polly7
(20,582 posts)If you didn't have your 'enemies', would you have anything at all to say?
And Steve is back, did you miss that?
I've never claimed to be a paragon, but thank you so much!!!!
Number23
(24,544 posts)I have asked you before to just leave me be. Don't worry about my enemies list, my groceries list, or any other lists I may have or anything else I post here and we'll have no problems.
And yeah, it's no wonder you felt so compelled to defend that other person. Must be like looking in the mirror for you.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Number23
(24,544 posts)polly7
(20,582 posts)whenever and wherever they like, as it is mine to comment on slurs against them.
Simple.
Number23
(24,544 posts)won't have to bother your beautiful mind.
Put me on ignore. Since you cannot leave me alone, just put me on ignore. That is by far the greatest gift you could ever give to me. It would be INFINITELY more enjoyable than having to suffer through yet another painful, idiotic, unprovoked, and completely UNWANTED conversation with you.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Then you won't get comments from 'anyone' on the insults you throw out after watching their horrible posting practices?
Number23
(24,544 posts)I and I alone will decide that. Your grasp of your own power and influence here seems to be as strong as the grasp you have on the definition of the word "slur."
Since you seem INCAPABLE of leaving me alone and are now trying to dictate who and what I talk about here, put me on ignore. NOW
polly7
(20,582 posts)Nooooo, I don't have anyone on ignore, but thanks.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I post here, but you need to stop. You do not and will not EVER dictate to me what I will discuss here.
If I want to spend every single, solitary post here talking about that poster or any other, it doesn't have one damn thing to do with you and never will. Your posts are absolutely unhinged.
Put me on ignore. Or leave me alone. Either works for me.
polly7
(20,582 posts)You were able to respond, obviously ..... I never once said what you could discuss - I responded, as is my right and anyone else's on a message board. And yes, it does have something to do with me as someone who respects that poster. What does their posting habits have to do with YOU?
Number23
(24,544 posts)to me what I can and cannot discuss. As if you have anything even vaguely resembling the right to tell ME to put someone on ignore because I made the apparently unforgiveably egregious act of noting how aggressive and combative their posting is and their number of posts.
You and I don't have anything in common (or at least, I pray that's the case). I don't and have never agreed with anything you've written and have found some things you have written here to be some of the vilest, most disgusting and hateful things I've ever seen on this web site. And your behavior in this thread has done nothing but cement the idea that you are one a number of people here whose opinion I care nothing about and who I would never willingly engage.
So, in light of this, I am going to ask AGAIN for you to PUT ME ON IGNORE. We don't have shit to say to each other and never will. Since I am able to ignore you but you can't do the same for me, PUT ME ON IGNORE. Poof! No more problems.
polly7
(20,582 posts)My goodness, you really don't like when your 'hit posts' are responded to, do you? And, I couldn't care less what you think of me ....
No, I told you, I don't do ignore. It messes up the sub-threads.
Number23
(24,544 posts)ignore. And how you "couldn't care less" about how I feel about you is exactly how I feel about your laughable attempts to "hall monitor" what I write here. You are the last person on this web site to try to dictate what anyone should be writing here.
From now on, PUT ME ON IGNORE is all you'll get from me. I will not read any more unhinged and purposeless screeds from you nor your asinine edicts on what I should or should be writing. Put me on ignore or LEAVE ME ALONE. I will not hesitate to take this to the admins and with your track record here, that's the last damn thing that you need. Given your revolting posts and record, It's a wonder you're even here now.
polly7
(20,582 posts)You're pissed I dared respond to your hit post and believe I shouldn't be able to respond to you when you diss a good poster. So you demand! I put you on ignore.
Why is that acceptable, when my suggestion that you put the poster, whose posts annoy you so much, on ignore is such a terrible thing? Then you wouldn't get replies at all.
(I really don't care about your answer because I know it'll be twisted around as a poor you thing again, but seriously ... think about it).
And please don't yell at me, I already told you why I don't use ignore.
Number23
(24,544 posts)All copied and ready to be pasted as needed! Because you can't walk away even from the fights that you start for no reason! Even when you've cried to Omaha Steve "I will NO LONGER derail your thread!!one"... you're still doing it!! You cannot help yourself. And this is why you need to:
PUT ME ON IGNORE
PUT ME ON IGNORE
Don't know what you wrote and God knows could not care less and will NEVER care.
PUT ME ON IGNORE
PUT ME ON IGNORE
I started no fight.
I responded to an ugly hit post and you turned it all personal and even more nasty. YOU did that. I responded to it, without throwing back your personal garbage.
But if you believe that's a 'fight', I'm just not sure what to say to you.
And I told you, Steve is not leaving.
Number23
(24,544 posts)This is ALL YOU WILL GET FROM ME. I will NOT read any more of your needlessly nasty and combative posts. NOT ONE DAMNED WORD.
PUT ME ON IGNORE
polly7
(20,582 posts)And, I don't hate - that's a strong and very strange accusation. Maybe that mirror you were talking about might come in handy about now.
Number23
(24,544 posts)PUT ME ON IGNORE
It is afternoon where I am. I can do this all day until it sinks in.
PUT ME ON IGNORE or LEAVE ME ALONE
but I'd so prefer for you to
PUT ME ON IGNORE
polly7
(20,582 posts)No, you derail threads over it - no idea why you believe you shouldn't get responses and then even more once you start in with all the personal garbage. Are you that special?
No, I don't use ignore, it messes up the sub-threads. And, I'll respond to anyone, anytime, who is dissing a good poster who brings more to this board than many.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I have no interest in ANYTHING that you've written. THIS IS ALL YOU WILL GET FROM ME.
PUT ME ON IGNORE
polly7
(20,582 posts)Number23
(24,544 posts)Or just leave alone. Either works for me.
PUT ME ON IGNORE
This is all you'll ever get in response to anything you write me. Hopefully you'll be able to adjust accordingly.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Number23
(24,544 posts)You genuinely seem to believe that getting the last word will make you look noble or the victor here. It's so stupid that I'm actually loling.
Most decent people when asked to leave someone alone will do it. Even if they're mad as hell. Or drunk. Or even really emotionally unwell, they'll do it. It's pretty simple. And yet, with each post you keep making it abundantly clear you have no intention of doing so. It's so very telling. Not at all surprising or uncharacteristic, but very telling.
Judging by your posts and the PMs, my work here is done. I'll do what you couldn't and announce I'm leaving this thread and actually do so. I wish I could say that this was one of your worse exchanges with another poster here but we both know it's not even close, don't we??
Edit: To eliminate the confusion, the PM's I've gotten from DUers laughing their natural asses off at the stupidity of this exchange and who I'm having it with. Polly has blissfully spared me her "brilliance" in private DU settings.
polly7
(20,582 posts)I respond to people who respond to me.
Edit: I've gotten pm's also from people laughing their asses off at this extremely boring thing and who I'm having it with. Same! Isn't it good to have friends?
Strange that you had to make this all so personal and hateful though .... I guess you REALLY didn't like my response to your hit post, eh (which wasn't so much 'brilliant' as it was just a plain nasty attempt to put a fellow poster down, who did nothing to you ... but not having the actual courage to name names)?
Prism
(5,815 posts)Was like watching bipolar disorder in motion.
Huh.
Glad to see you're still not easily bullied, Polly =)
Blue_Roses
(12,894 posts)All sorts of strangeness in this sub-thread. I guess when you reply to the 'hall-monitor' in charge of judging posting habits, quantity of posts, 'squatter' attributes ..... things go all to s*!
It's good to see you, Prism!
zeemike
(18,998 posts)He warned you with the "enjoy your few days here"...
I don't know what people get out of that, but it probably has to do with power.
Number23
(24,544 posts)never sought to engage with them in any way and yet, she's had a SLEW of time outs. That's all on her, not me. And that's what I was referring to when I said for her not to waste the precious little time she has to post worrying about what I type or who I'm typing about. It's none of her business or concern what I talk about here and this is not the first time I've had to remind her of this.
And all of these comments about me "provoking" that person and how she's not "allowing" herself to be bullied... EVERYONE can see who started this exchange and over what. And EVERYONE can see who asked who a half dozen times to leave who alone and what the response was.
So this whole "you're being provoked and/or BULLIED!one1!" doesn't make even the tiniest, most minuscule bit of sense and is really quite hilarious.
zeemike
(18,998 posts)And I don't investigate them to find out how many hides they have or even if they are a he or a she...it don't matter to me. I judge them on what they say not on who they are. And I try not to hold their past against them but often their past is prologue. But for me everyone starts with a clean slate every time they post.
But you seemed to me to be provocitive...and that is my observation and opinion and you can laugh it off if you want, but there it is.
It just seems to me that people become addicted to drama and conflict on the internet just like people become addicted to porn. The more you experience the more it takes to get off.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I've seen her posts and read enough from her to know that we are not ever going to agree on anything. So there's no point in discussing anything with her and words cannot express how little interest I have IN discussing anything with her. AGAIN, which is why I've asked her to leave me alone.
She CHOOSES to respond to me, it's certainly not the other way around. So your saying that I am provoking her is a complete misread of what's going on here, which even a casual observer of that idiotic and pointless exchange upthread would have already noticed.
Calling me "provocitive" whatever that means, is something I'll take as a compliment. So thanks for that.
zeemike
(18,998 posts)I guess you feel you always need the last word. And that it is always someone else's fault.
Being provocative is sometimes a good thing when it leads to understanding or dialog...but not when it is just an ego trip.
Number23
(24,544 posts)It's clear you're going to see what you want and that you want this to be my fault and on me, and I'm pretty sure that I know why too.
So I'm done here. You keep reading and seeing what you want. It truly makes no difference to me.
polly7
(20,582 posts)YOU ignore all the people you hate here ........ but wait, that wouldn't leave you many to discuss (accuse of all the bullshit you are the one doing yourself) things with, would it.
polly7
(20,582 posts)Number23
(24,544 posts)I can't reply to that creepy post because I found out it was hidden. Only came in here again because I was sent the jury results. The only thing more bizarre than all of your screaming and stalking is the amount of dishonesty in that post. And I'll address your wild, untrue and totally unnecessary accusations here.
I have never posted in HOF but it doesn't surprise me in the LEAST that you have beef with those ladies as well.
I have never posted on Hillary Buzz or whatever you're talking about but if it you don't like it and it makes you this angry, maybe I'll check it out.
And yes, I have asked about 6 people in the 7.5 years I've been on DU whose opinions I have no interest in and who I think are unreasonably hostile or ridiculous to leave me alone. Out of of that 6 people, the majority have done so immediately. I am really terribly sorry that my RIGHT to ask people that I don't like to leave me alone seems to upset you so much. Actually I'm not.
You could have just walked away, left me alone or put me on ignore like I've asked you to do about a hundred times. This entire exchange is one of the most pointless and ridiculously sad things I've ever seen here.

(10,345 posts)The post about Bernie was so ridiculous, I'm surprised it gained any traction even before Thom debunked it. But the Nazi association linked to ANY of the Democratic contenders is not just unfair, but detached from reality.
I'm undecided as well. The strengths and weaknesses of all three major declared candidates are pretty much out there, but I have exactly one vote, and that is in the Texas primary. I'll make my decision some time before that. But it won't be influenced by over-the-top posts such as the Bernie/NRA one or the Hillary pic. To both posters, I'd repeat what Scootaloo said: C'mon, man.
I think this place is becoming Suzy Creamcheese, and someone needs to ask "what's got into ya?"

(45,251 posts)Posting on a message board about the real world is one thing. Posting on a message board about another message board is whole other thing. Posting on a message board about posters on another message board who post about posters on a message board is a bridge too far.
The day I post based on how a CCer might react to my post is the day I'll know I need to get off message boards for good.
In what universe is posting that offensive picture meaningfully related to the purpose of getting another post edited?
It was an offensive, juvenile tantrum regardless of the purpose.

(45,251 posts)I have had two hides since I began posting here.
The first time was because I did not use the sarcasm emote on a post because the post was so over the top I thought I would insult DUers by using the emote. Some juror comments proved some of the jurors knew very well that I had intended sarcasm, but had voted to hide anyway, because my politics are too far left for their tastes.
I knew I was going to get the second, but thought saying "F**k you" to a particular poster was well worth a hide. Now, I like that poster a lot. Somewhere in that is a life lesson.
But, anyway, I think piling on someone who has humbly admitted he has an awful and terminal illness is well beyond the pale.

BainsBane
(53,066 posts)My post was not despicable. It was an article from the Washington Post, quite balanced and informative if you actually read it. There was nothing despicable about it. What is despicable is insulting people and calling them out because they post stories people happen to find inconvenient.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)I can read, and I did read the article. I find these attempts to paint Bernie Sanders as some kind of gun-bumper despicable, and I will stand by that. Also, as stated, I think portraying Hillary as Hitler is over-the-top. Hyperbole seems to rule around here.
BainsBane
(53,066 posts)at all, which you should know if you actually read it. I will not ignore a candidate's voting record or the circumstances of his first election to federal office because you and others don't like it. In fact, I find entirely offensive the idea that news must be suppressed in order to appease the sensibilities of some. Not one person in that thread has been able to refute anything in the article, not any of the points, but I am told it must be taken down because some don't like it. What I don't like is politicians voting against the Brady Bill and for immunity for gun corporations. So I guess I can see why those whose priority is Sanders political prospects would be so intent on burying that information, but it will come out, quite likely in the first debate.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)and I wouldn't. I just disagree with the slant of the article. If Bernie Sanders is so gun-friendly, then why does the NRA give him a D- rating?
You don't have to answer or respond. We will agree to disagree.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)What is despicable - and this goes both ways - is efforts to paint a candidate as something he or she clearly is not. Bernie is not a gun-humper and Hillary isn't Hitler. Fair enough?
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)If not then it seems that criticism of Mr. Sanders is considered despicable.
BainsBane
(53,066 posts)Why don't you read it again? Then we can talk about it. It lays out his less than clear cut position on guns, his votes for gun control and his votes against. Since you claim to have read it, you should know that.

(53,066 posts)I'm not an expert. I read a newspaper article. You tell me what exactly was debunked? What information in that article is incorrect? Did the NRA not target Peter Smith in 1990? Did they not tell their supporters to "vote for the socialist." Which facts are false?
Also, it was incredibly rude of you to compare me to a Nazi. The Washington Post is a well respected newspaper. The information is available to anyone interested, and you can count of the fact it will be discussed in the debates. But if you have an issue with any of the points in the article, you should address them with evidence, sources--rather than calling me a fucking Nazi because I have the audacity to place a high priority on gun control.

(53,066 posts)Saying it was debunked doesn't tell me specifically what is erroneous. I get you don't like it, but that does not suffice for evidence that any of the points are false.
Not one person has been able to point to a single false point in the article. You can insult everyone who dares to read the newspaper from here to the election and all it does is highlight your own refusal to deal with the issue. Citizens have a right--indeed a responsibility--to inform themselves on the voting records of candidates, even if your sense of "decency" involves suppressing that information.

(45,251 posts)After his meme caught on and people started talking about it as though it were meaningful, he invented a nobler reason. That was bullshit and his fake law is bullshit. Think about who gets compared to Nazis and how they benefit when such comparisons become politically incorrect. Think about which behaviors get compared with Nazi behaviors.
BTW, the so-called "law" is probably not what you think it is.
Godwin's law (or Godwin's rule of Nazi analogies)[1][2] is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"[2][3]that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism.

Don't let the bastards wear you down.
Take a breather, do what you have to do for yourself and your sanity.
We'll keep the lamp lit for ya.
Until then, Happy Trails, until we meet again.

I cannot imagine you not being here (for instance) on the night of the debate. It's likely to be rough, before or after, but made much better with knowing you're just a post away.

(24,010 posts)Your posts are invaluable!
Take a break if you need to. Take care of yourself. But please return if you can, and keep educating people and keep calling bullshit by its proper name.
The Washington Psst is a lying sheet of litter box liner, straight out of Langley. Not to be trusted on any matter (but useful as a primer for what our overlords want us to think).

(12,778 posts)You knew (or should have known) very well that a post like that would be hidden. Also, you don't get to tell other DUers what they can or can't post. That's up to the juries and the admins. Saying that you will take down an offensive (and yes it was very offensive) post about Hillary Clinton only after another poster takes down her post is blackmail.

(50,303 posts)Now don't be silly. It's happened to all of us. Lick your wounds for a day or two and come back. We need you and all the animals you post about need you even more.

(44,228 posts)then paste that URL into the box where you edit your sig line.
That's the quick and dirty way to do it.
Better would be to get an account at a photo hosting site, and link to your own version of the pic. But for one sig line image, I'm sure Boo wouldn't mind hosting it for you.
Good luck.

(10,406 posts)Then in your profile where your siggie can go, post it there using {img} and {/img} on either side of the URL ...and instead of {}, use []. Like Sid said, you can use my image hosting site to make it easier for you.

(7,981 posts)The post was so bad it was locked twice, once by jury and once by hosts. The OP should be banned.
It's post like this one that expose the true nature of Bernie Sanders "supporters" on DU.
They are driven by their irrational hatred for the Clintons and use their support for Bernie Sanders solely as a launching pad for attacking Hillary.
Tipperary
(6,930 posts)I am a Hillary supporter, but I do not consider his right wing postings to be common to other Sanders supporters. He has obviously just gone off the deep end in his political anger. It should be a lesson to all.

(10,044 posts)As far as that "bad post" goes, I am very annoyed by her constant waving one arm or the other, and have posted that her advisors should tell her to stop doing that.
A tsunami hit DU a while back. My desire to post lessens every day...
Good luck, Buddy
Will continue to use your act blue link.. just sent Bernie a bit the other day.
