Screw the past

No, this isn’t about ISIS blowing up priceless, ancient relics in the Middle East. But it might as well be.

This is about today’s Republican voters who are trying to erase history. They are mindlessly trying to do away with the arts, the sciences, logic, reason, fairness, justice and all the rest of what might be called “progress.”

How brain dead do you have to be to listen to a Donald Trump, or a Ben Carson and not realize that their words do not represent the world in which most of us want to live. Both of them are either frauds, or they have learned nothing from the past. They seek to take us into some version of “nirvana” that only they themselves are imagining.

It’s probable that the rest of the GOP candidates know better. But each of them wants so badly to be king (or queen), that they are willing to make believe that they agree with the ignorance that infects the GOP base.

It seems to me that the Republican Party and their voters have learned nothing from humanity’s bleak past. For many years now, they have insisted on continuing their march into darkness.

So here’s the thing. What if they win?
