Kasich To Female College Student: 'I'm Sure You Get Invited To All The Parties'

Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich reportedly told a female student at the University of Richmond Monday that he was sure she was invited "to all the parties," according to the college student newspaper.

During a town hall campaign stop at the college campus, Kasich reportedly told a female student with a laugh, "I’m sorry, I don’t have any Taylor Swift tickets” when she "was nearly jumping out of her seat to get noticed," The Collegian reported.

At another point, he told another female student, "I’m sure you get invited to all
of the parties,” according to the college paper.

Several 2016 hopefuls have made offensive comments about women including Republican candidate Donald Trump who said Fox News host Megyn Kelly looked like she had blood "coming out of her wherever" when she asked about his derogatory comments about women, and Republican candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee who said before he launched his campaign that female presidential candidates should be treated with "a sense of a pedestal."

Oh... and submissive to men, naturally.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]The beaten-down poor ones, anyway - brainwashed, with their spirits killed by religion and patriarchal rule. It's criminal.

The rich Republican women who say they agree are just mouthy hypocrites. They really do exactly as they please, and are only protecting their status and wealth.

Phyllis Schafly and Michelle Bachmann are the first examples right off the top of my head. "Women, stay home, read your bibles, and be submissive to your men - except for me, of course. Do as I say, not as I do."

It's indeed a sexist comment, but it's not entirely clear to me if he was being a sleazebag or it was just really awful attempts to be hip and funny. In any case, he certainly comes off looking like as ass.

I'm stunned that the males, and some females, in the Republican party are so braindead when it comes to women. They seem to have no idea how to talk about or treat women. It's like everyone of them is married to a Stepford wife, who just says "Yes, dear," when so many of them could use a spouse who smacks them backside of the head like Jethro, and asks, "What the eff did you just say?"

I was hoping to find some evidence of how the affected individuals reacted to these comments, but I can't find them:

While calling on sophomore Kayla Solsbak, who was nearly jumping out of her seat to get noticed, Kasich said with a laugh, “I’m sorry, I don’t have any Taylor Swift tickets.”

Kasich also said at one point, “I’m sure you get invited to all of the parties,” to one of the female students sitting in the front row of raised seats.

Comments like these, along with some of Kasich’s remarks on his policies, led to mixed reactions from some of the students who attended the event.

“I think he is quite impressive,” McCurdy said, “especially in regards to his willingness to put finding a solution above scoring political points with one side or another.”

Mendieta said she was overall fairly disappointed in the event. “The first half of the event was great,” she said, “I thought that Kasich was making a lot of points that I thought could agree with. But once the floor was opened to questions, I was discouraged.”

Although students had varied reactions to Kasich, many were impressed that a large political event was held on campus.

The source document was kind of mealy-mouthed; no quotes from the affected students and how they "took" the comments.

JOHN KASICH IS AN ARROGANT, SEXIST JERK. I have watched the damage of his administration to our state. He is NOT a moderate ... he is NOT reasonable. He is nasty. What he said to those two young women is typical of John Kasich. A state trooper who had the nerve to pull over the great JK was deemed a "jerk" in public.

Please do not kid yourselves that John Kasich is reasonable alternative, unless you would like Ohio's hellish infant mortality rate a national figure, public money funneled to private partners with NO transparency (and no economic growth, either), high rates of poverty for children, and continued loss of reproductive rights.

What Trump said was beyond tasteless. I wouldn't have believed that anyone would get away with saying something like that publicly, but he apparently has. It was very degrading. I guess you can say anything these days if you've got enough money.
