to individual opinion, I'm afraid. What you believe is true may not be the same as what I believe. In all probability, neither of us is 100% correct. The truth usually lies somewhere in between peoples beliefs about it.

I take nobody else's opinion about what is and is not true. Instead, I try to study all the evidence and find it for myself. That's what I prefer to do.

We need to wake up to the fact that mass media information services have become manipulative. They place "narrative" over investigative with growing frequency.

opinion pieces. We've stopped reading news, and mistake opinion articles and punditry for news a lot these days.

The facts are available. It's not difficult to find them, in most cases. But, you won't find them in editorials and op-ed pieces from either side of the political spectrum in any media outlet. You have to look for news, not opinion. Then, you can form your own opinions, which can be just as valid as those from people who are paid to write their opinions.

But what is called "news" these days is often disguised "opinion" (narratives) or a "preferred" vision.

Often times opinion pieces can be more accurate than the news: As the authors have done more research and investigation and are not (always) biased by marketing or financial incentives.

I do agree though that this is not a great way to learn and requires a lot of personal effort to double-check (as does mainstream media if you want to get past the "Presentation" and at the facts).

Having said that: There are some non-mainstream organizations, some with a long history of dependability, that digest and investigate news and produce more reliable information such as DemocracyNow, The Nation, Project Censored, etc.
