Kicking the Can Down the Yellow Brick Road!

Republican congressional leaders are, falling over each other, auditioning for the role of the ‘Tin Man” in the TEA PARTIED REPUBLICAN Wizard of Oz sequel – Kicking the Can Down the Yellow Brick Road! House Speaker Boehner’s, Senate Minority Leader McConnell’s, House leader, Paul Ryan’s – latest SCRIPTED TALKING POINT is “kicking the can down the road”. Their talking point refers to blaming the President for THEIR refusal to reduce the deficit dilemma by increasing tax rates for the wealthy so that the rates will be on the same playing field as the tax rates dumped on middle class families.

During Boehner’s ‘OZIFIED’ remarks at the 2012 Peter G. Peterson Foundation, he promised to lead Tea Partied Republican House Representatives’ and Senators’ REPEAT PERFORMANCE of their summer/2011 protect the wealthy’s “historically low” tax rate battle. His sentiments were, then, repeated by Tea Partied Senator Mitch McConnell, Tea Partied House Representative Paul Ryan and other Tea Partied elected politicos.

They think WE don’t remember how they, merrily , skipped down the “yellow brick road” in July, 2011 with their “If I only had a brain” PAUL RYAN BUDGET PLAN debt limit fiasco which a) insisted on spending cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, affordable health care, social and educational services for women, children, college students, the elderly and the poor that were GREATER than the amount of the debt-ceiling increases; b) brought the US. Government to a near shut down; c) UNDERMINED international fiscal confidence in the US dollar and d) DOWNGRADED our nation’s credit rating in a “historical and unprecedented move” from “AAA to AA+”. The only difference between the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz and the Tea Partied Republican ‘Tin Men’ holding office in Congress is that Oz’s Tin Man KNEW he didn’t have a heart!
