3. Mockery is the best medicine for the gun sickness, until there is a cure. I think we are close.

Four mass shootings at schools in a week, three in one day, even without the shock of an image of the blood in the streets, maybe this time the shock is enough.

the gun people just accept the death toll as unimportant.

Human lives don't matter, only their "right" to snuggle up with their guns matters.

They don't care, it doesn't shock them, because they accept many, many deaths as part and parcel of their sick obsession with killing.

There is no shock, because it is their expected outcome and they don't care.

remember the shock effect on the issue of Syrian refugees of the image of one small body body washed up on a distant shore?

I am sorry to say that is what it will take, and I think it will be the final needed shock.

But, honestly, these days, I don't believe that the gun fetishists would even care, beyond wishing that they were seeing it in person.

I hate that I feel this way, but there is no empathy in people who believe that guns are more important than lives.

Maybe we could get some action if the sane people all came together...the nuts are louder, but there are more non-gun-nuts.

14. I think fixing Chicago should be a start

Chicago has weekly shootings but hardly any news. Why? Chicago has strict gun laws. Yes they may get them else where but why aren't citizens obeying the gun laws? That is an important question.

15. "But What about Chicago" is a right wing talking point

anyone who has looked at it at all knows that while Chicago proper has strong gun laws, Indiana and surrounding counties have extremely lax gun laws. So, if you want a gun, you drive 1/2 hour to wherever is closest to get a freaking gun.

So, will your next question be "but what about black on black violence"? That seems to be the usual next step along this line of talking points.

ETA: When I lived in the Chicago area, the shootings were on the evening news, but they were local stories. Unfortunately, violence is too commonplace in our society to garner national news coverage. The news broadcasts would be hours long if they covered every shooting every day.

I have come to the conclusion that nothing is going to move this country until the bloody images of the slaughtered innocents show up on the news. That's what turned the country on Vietnam.

The majority of the population sitting on the sidelines will need to get involved because the current pro and con factions are not enough to sway our corrupt politicians.

I am disgusted by the discussions of the pro and con factions on this site.

Peace

6. The instinct to dominate is at the root of the gun obsession.

As long as humans cling to their ancient desire to dominate, the gun will remain their "tool of choice". The only effective cure is intelligent reasoning, a mental process that is currently too rare to save us from ourselves.

Even in a fake democracy, the people should see some honesty occasionally.
