Future of Durham’s Confederate statue draws debate (NC)

... In Durham, minister Paul Scott has a different idea for this statue.

“I want to see a statue right next to it, so when you walk by, you’ll be immediately reminded my ancestors suffered under the same people who wore that uniform,” he said.

Scott added, “We are calling for a Maafa memorial – that’s Swahili for great suffering” ...
