A former chairman of the Arizona Republican Party tweeted Tuesday night during the first Democratic presidential debate that guns should be taken away from "blacks" because "they are the main killers."
At one point, debate moderator Anderson Cooper asked the candidates where they stood on the "Black Lives Matter" movement. The question of whether "black lives matter" or "all lives matter" had tripped up some of the candidates before, but on Tuesday night they all said the movement was legitimate.
Former Arizona GOP chair Randy Pullen, who is white, offered his unsolicited take on Twitter:
?@RPullen
Yes black lives matter.
The best way to end the slaughter of young black men is to take guns away from blacks as they are the main killers.

(16,286 posts)They desperately want to keep their guns, but you can be certain there would have to be rules about those others and theirs.

No, I believe everyone has a right to a gun

and then they will list rules and ideals that in their minds will exclude Black people...
Easy to do, really, when you have a corrupt criminal system and Jim Crow which regulates what Black people can have and where and how.

(5,417 posts)Ever wonder why Donald Trump has a gun permit, and the average citizen doesnt?
He is rich and white.
I guarantee you he had no trouble taking a few days off work, and consulting his lawyers on the permit process, and paying the 100's in fees. I would imagine the sheriff even sped the process up for him.
I would imagine a lot of poor new yorkers dont have that luxury and have no means of self defense.

(44,397 posts)Pullen's correct that most young black men are killed by other black people but then again, most white people are killed by other white people.
Statistics also don't bear out the idea that black people do most of the killing in the United States, either. FBI crime stats show that white people committed 4,849 murders in 2010 while black people committed 5,770 but the stats also show that 4,224 murders were committed by someone whose race was unknown. The most striking difference in the FBI stats when it comes to murder offenders is the one between men and women.
But Pullen isn't about to emphasize that men are the "main killers" in the country or to suggest even satirically that the best way to end the slaughter of Americans in general might be to allow only women (of any race) to own guns.

(509 posts)If it's not us males' fault that we do stupid violent things, maybe the courts should take that into account in sentencing.
I don't know what else to suggest, though.
