Why Jeb and other Repubs keep saying "he kept us safe"?

Does anyone actually believe that if Barack Obama had been President on September 11th, 2001 that he would not have been blamed for the attack by the Republicans? I seriously doubt that.

The reason Jeb and others keep saying that is that they now think it is safe to say it. The Democratic Party did unite behind the Republicans to fight the terrorists and chose not to make a political issue of the attack on 9/11.

But there is a huge difference in the two Parties in this regard. Republicans would not have been so generous. Look at their present attacks and investigations with Ben Ghazi as evidence of their intentions.

There is no rational or logical way anyone can say that George W Bush kept us "safe" on September 11th, 2001. Just because Democrats did not choose to make political hay out of it does not change that reality.

In the same breath, Republicans will tell you that Bill Clinton had a chance to "capture" Bin Laden and chose to let him escape. It is important that Republicans not be permitted to promote this idea that George W Bush "kept us safe", even as they say, "Don't you remember him standing in the rubble"?

GWB invaded Iraq for no good reason, let OBL live until Obama sent the troops in to get him, etc.

They can't very well run around saying that GWB created the largest expansion of the Federal government in history and suspended significant portions of the Constitution while simultaneously blocking investigation of 9/11.

ETA: It's fuzzy math !

The sudden gigantic growth of the size of the federal government during the W years (culminating in the highest budget deficit in history) is a story the corporate-owned media and Neocon Bush-apologists don't want anyone to hear.

To create a gigantic Department of Homeland Security and bankrupt the country with money-gobbling foreign wars certainly does require fuzzy math.

And about keeping us safe, remember how Dick C predicted another attack while Obama is in office. I'm sure he was hoping for that so as divert any criticism of W. Same with Benghazi, let's not remember that there were so many more attacks on U.S. Installations under their watch.

The outgoing Clinton administration told them al Qaeda was the most urgent threat facing our country, and Richard Clarke (who served in several administrations in anti-terror capacities, including GW's) repeatedly tried to get a high level meeting to address the threat, but was turned down. Furthermore, about a month before the attacks Bush was personally given a briefing warning of an impending al Qaeda attack on American soil, and GW's response was to tell the messenger he "covered his ass" and then do nothing.

Thanks for reminding us, kentuck. And many others who dare point it out.

More history for the younger folks who need to know the facts. Sadly, there are people who want to tarnish and hide these facts. We cannot allow the truth to be stolen from the next generation of young people. That is what keeps me up at night.

This ad should have also included the anthrax attacks, that have never been solved. Bush and Cheney were popping Cipro antibiotics just prior to those attacks that were aimed at Democratic Senate leaders and media, with collateral damage at the US Postal Service.

Also, the outing of now-former CIA agent Valerie Plame by Bush and Cheney DID NOT "keep us safe". She was clandestinely working on Iran's nuclear issues. Why did Bush and Cheney, et. al., do such a traitorous thing?? Bush and Cheney were angry at Plame's husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson, for saying publicly in the NY Times before the Bush stampede to war in Iraq, that the Bush administration's story of "yellowcake" uranium flowing into Iraq was false.

Here is more for the young'uns to read up about history:

This is an historic day. 'Where were you when the State Department corruption was exposed?', from 2010

and

American Judas: Selling Security of America & World for 30 Pieces of Silver, submitted by long-time DUer seemslikeadream in 2006.

So, in 2015, when another bald-faced Bush liar, grasping at the Presidency, crouches up on a stage somewhere in front of a microphone and snivels that "my brother kept us safe", we will all know that he is a member of a family of craven liars and charlatans and should be hereby forever banished from all positions of power and influence.

As craven liars go, Jeb Bush is, indeed, "his own man".
