This is the way reality looks to Ted Cruz: The deeply conservative leadership of the Republican Party just isnt deeply conservative enough.
On Meet the Press this morning, Cruz actually tried to make this case. Yes, with a straight face. Republican majorities in Congress, he suggested, have actually partnered and compromised and cooperated with President Obama and his agenda too much.
In fact, what the Republican majorities have done, we came back right after the last election, passed a trillion dollars cromnibus bill, filled with corporate welfare reform. Then Republican leadership and and leadership joined with Harry Reid and the Democrats to do that.
Then leadership voted to fund Obamacare. Then they voted to fund amnesty. Then they voted to fund Planned Parenthood. And then Republican leadership took the lead confirming Loretta Lynch as Attorney General. Now Chuck, which one of those decisions is one iota different than what would happened under Harry Reid and the Democrats? The truth of the matter is Republican leadership are the most effective Democrat leaders weve ever seen. Theyve passed more Democratic priorities than Harry Reid ever could.

(65,616 posts)They take all the subtle bullshit the GOP has been living on as it's bread and butter and exaggerate it to such an outlandish state that the GOP worries their brand might be in 'imminent peril'.
And it is. People don't like that pile of shit. And they remember the GOP blocking the ACA 50 times. And pile of shit closing down the government for 26 billion.
Dumbasses like Cruz don't realize that. They are so myopic as to believe the 3 people on their side is 3 million.

(14,177 posts)the implication he had one to begin with is hard to believe. I am pretty sure he is too nutso even for Republicans. He will remain in local politics for a while, hopefully not long. I want him to drop off the political radar like well right now. He needs to be put in the dustbin of history like Bachmann and only be used for jokes.

(9,127 posts)In the abstract, I still believe that Texas deserves to have a better US senator than Ted Cruz. When I'm realistic, I remember the millions of Texas non-voters and the Republicans who knew he was a nut case, but voted for Ted anyway.

He is barking-at-the-moon insane.
