Poll: Obama struggling among struggling white voters

According to a new Washington Post-ABC poll, white voters who described themselves as struggling to stay afloat backed Romney 55 to 32 percent. Among white voters who say they know someone who has been laid off, 56 percent back Romney to 32 percent for Obama. Self described upper middle class voters also back Romney 61 percent to 29 percent.

This is so sad - but not surprising, given the steady diet of propaganda they've been fed for forty years.

Remove voters from the southern states and Obama likely becomes more competitive but it will remain a rough row to hoe.

Do they think they'll struggle LESS with him as President? Or are they willing to settle for Romney's ensuring that NON-blacks would have to struggle MORE?

But I have no doubt that it is true for SOME white Americans. I still remember campaigning for Obama and talking to a staunch Democrat who said, "I just can't vote him. Maybe it's better if I don't vote at all."

It is common for people to attribute their racism to other factors. "I don't like him because of the economy...". Riiiiiiight.

Small town America ... these folks get their information from FAUX news and their churches. This is a tough demographic to deal with - often racist to boot. They haven't traveled and are scared of the "other" - and you'd better believe Mittens' campaign folks will play to their fears.

if these are the type of people who either want their jobs to be shipped abroad or better yet, get no benefits when they join their comrades in the unemployment lines.

Yet, they think the healthiest tac for ethnics, is to internalize their failures as solely their own faults. Good for the goose, is not even worth a gander.

The GW years were hardly years of austerity. They involved lots of spending on the MIC and security related industries.

So struggling white voters may think that Romney will actually spend more in areas of benefit to them.

Obama may be seen as favoring spending on education, public workers, green energy, etc., which would not benefit them as much, nor would it reduce their own chances of being laid off.

In either case, they are probably not very concerned about where the money is coming from, borrowing or taxation, since that seems to mainly be a concern of the small slice making up the tea party.
