President Barack Obama talks with 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed during the second Astronomy Night on the South Lawn of the White House. Invited to the White House for the science event, Mohamed was handcuffed and questioned by police last month when he brought a homemade electronic clock to class at MacArthur High School in Irving, TX, and officials mistook it for a bomb.

I felt really happy that I got support from the president, said Ahmed on Monday morning. Its really amazing that he helped me.
The event Monday night, attended by about 300 people, brought students and teachers together with astronomers and other experts for an evening of stargazing.
What that meant for Ahmed was a chance to meet NASA scientists and astronauts.
We have to watch for and cultivate and encourage those glimmers of curiosity and possibility not suppress them and not squelch them because not only are the young peoples futures at stake, our own is at stake, Obama said. Some of you might be on your way to Mars.
