It was also stated that since Benghazi, the repubs have been more willing to fund embassy security. It was not a major issue in the hearing.

Secretary Clinton, in response to why there was on extraordinary security, pointed out that the appropriations bill in the Senate had language to allow transfer of funds within the budget, language that was stripped out in the House version. That would have allowed moving funds from less urgent line items to more demanding issues.

One of the Dem Reps (Shiff?) pointed out the cut in funding in the very next question session.

Both were pretty sharp-stick-in-the-eye moments for Gowdy.
