(45,319 posts)truth are of equal standing. We counter the larger lies by refusing to tolerate any lie and we encourage and empower large lies when we gloss over or rationalize the lies we come across in daily life. A community that does not practice honesty can not call for honesty, those who are at times fine with lies can not stand against lies, only the truth is tonic to mendacity, and anytime any of us engages in or allows dishonest behavior, we are contributing to comfortable occupation of our entire culture by the promoters of ignorance and the tellers of lies.

(111,269 posts)If we had interviewers with actual cojones who would call them on those lies and ask them to try to back them up, the lies wouldn't convince anyone out there.
Unfortunately, interviewers want to protect their "access"--to LIARS--and sit and nod politely in tacit agreement.
This is the real problem, supine journalism that the liars walk right over.

(111,100 posts)They are the Party of the elite and it reasonable to assume that the elite would protect them so long as they were able to protect the elite. The Democratic Party has always been the Party that challenges the elite, and even though far out-numbering the elite Party, have never been able to communicate beyond the lies and screens perpetrated by the elite spokesmen in the Republican Party, lies or otherwise.

(8,582 posts)Bush lied all the time. Republicans lie because they don't care, because they are not for Government or are for less Government.

If the "liberally-biased media" really were "liberally biased", more people would be aware of "I like to fire people" than the Dean Scream ...
