Chipotle closes in OR and WA, E. coli outbreak

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A number of Chipotle restaurants across the Northwest abruptly closed late Friday afternoon.

On Saturday morning, the Oregon Health Authority said they were investigating a possible E. coli outbreak at Oregon and Washington Chipotles.

OHA issued a health alert to healthcare providers, alerting them to the possible outbreak and urging them to test patients who show signs of E. coli for the bacteria.

"Health departments in Oregon and Washington are investigating an outbreak of Shiga toxin producing E. coli (STEC) infections that might be associated with eating at Chipotle restaurants," the alert said.
