NaNoWriMo is on! Is anyone else participating this year?

Starting in about 30 minutes (for me in Central Time Zone) it will be time to start writing! This year my attempt to write a 50,000-word novel by the end of November will be in the post-apocalyptic genre. Wish me luck!

Anyone else? What are you writing?

If I do I might have to draw an idea out of a hat like last year.

Anyway, here's wishing you lots of luck!

I am going to get started in just a bit. I am writing a zombie story and there is exactly one zombie in it. One person in it might be considered a zombie, but she is not as she didn't die before being zombiefied so she does recover and becomes human again. Oh and both are along the lines of the classic zombie, neither being eaters of human flesh.

I'd spent most of my time writing backstory and timeline stuff, but with my poor writing skills I got scared off of actually 'writing' the story.

Edit - Well, if I can find the damn flashdrive I had the stuff on.

I started it during graduate school for my masters in creative writing but got a promotion right before I graduated and it took literally all of my free time. Quit and went freelance in April, and now that I'm settled I am ready to finish.

Not your typical zombie novel. Tied with loose science and history. Yep, my outbreak has an origin so no mystery outbreak here. Planning a trilogy. Should be interesting!

But it's non-fiction history, not a novel, and it's done. So it doesn't count.

from Bob Dylan. He went to his manager's office to play him the song Highlands (which eventually wound up on Time Out of Mind), so it could be recorded for copyright purposes. It went on for like 20 minutes. The manager said to Bob 'Can you now play the short version?' Bob replied 'That is the short version.'

Here's my edit to something of substance:

We on the left will naturally have plenty of disagreements with those who are liberal or more moderate. We also must occasionally join forces to combat the right wing. Let's have fun along the way.

Only 49.99 k to go!

But I'll never finish it by the end of November. With the amount of free time I have, I'll be lucky if I finish it by NEXT November. I'm at about 30,000.

It's a mix of memoir and politics, and will be most relevant during the primary season.

I had a head start: 5,000 words in before November 1. Still, I'd better get off of DU and back to writing!

I've been debating about doing it officially, but I fully intend to get at least 50K this month. Should probably double that, in truth. So much to finish up! Just depends on how it goes, though. Did 9333 words yesterday to finish up a zombie novella. It's with the editor for an anthology, and I hope he accepts it.

Good luck everyone.

From what he's saying, there should be a release date set very soon, as he finishes up formatting and some light editing. The cover is done (and it's awesome), so not much more to do!

I can let you know when it's out, and which story is mine.

I'm thinking about adding a widget or something to track my word count in my siggie. I think it would be fun, and make me accountable. I took yesterday off (had a huge word count day Saturday), but I'm about ready to start in the next little bit.
