Investigation tracks sex misconduct by police officers

This is an investigative report published today by the Associated Press.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Flashing lights pierced the black of night, and the big white letters made clear it was the police. The woman pulled over was a daycare worker in her 50s headed home after playing dominoes with friends. She felt she had nothing to hide, so when the Oklahoma City officer accused her of erratic driving, she did as directed.

She would later tell a judge she was splayed outside the patrol car for a pat-down and then made to lift her shirt and pull down her pants to prove she wasn't hiding anything. She described being ordered to sit in the squad car as the officer towered over her. His gun in sight, she said she pleaded "No, sir" as he unzipped his fly and exposed himself to her with a hurried directive.

"Come on," the woman, identified in police reports as J.L., said she was told before she began giving the officer oral sex. "I don't have all night."

The accusations are undoubtedly jolting, and yet they reflect a betrayal of the badge that has been repeated across the country.

Many of our police officers come from the military, where they were in the military police. Many of them were athletes in college who majored in Criminal Justice because it was an easy degree and didn't interfere with football practice.

It is a report on an investigation published today by the Associated Press, which qualifies it as News.

Locking the story in LBN is just pettiness on the part of the hosts.

I voted to support whatever the consensus was. Other than my vote, it was unanimous to lock. The second, I voted to lock. There was no need for us to go through the procedure again, but it was unanimous, as well.
I was tempted to go with a CS alert on you for screwing with the hosts. I've been successful doing that to you before, long before becoming a host.

When I had access to the host forum, I noticed that groupthink was a big problem in hosting decisions.

I would say you were treated extremely well. UP came into your thread to praise your post, and you started shit with her. That prompted me to point out your long history with the mods/hosts.
I've only been a host for a couple of weeks. What I'm seeing certainly isn't groupthink. I laughed when I read that.

Obviously that hasn't changed if you're just adding a vote for consensus.

You're an Authoritarian, I'm an Anti-authoritarian. Never the twain shall meet.

Hosts do not lock out of pettiness but because the Statement of Purpose for a particular forum is not met, yet a post would fit the SOP of a different forum.

For instance, an OP might not meet the sop of LBN

Statement of Purpose

Post the latest news from reputable mainstream news websites and blogs. Important news of national interest only. No analysis or opinion pieces. No duplicates. News stories must have been published within the last 12 hours. Use the published title of the story as the title of the discussion thread.

Yet it will meet the SOP of Good Reads
Statement of Purpose

Post excerpts from articles, blogs, and other recently-published material related to politics, issues, and current events. No posts about Israel/Palestine, religion, guns, showbiz, or sports unless there is really big news. No conspiracy theories. No whining about DU.

They have very different SOPs and sometimes OPs get locked and redirected to a forum where it meets the SOP.

I have heard countless women say they avoided a ticket by a flash of boobs or some other form of sexual tease. While NOTHING justifies sexual abuse by an officer, one should consider how some women disrespect all other females when they try --no matter how innocent the intent-- to use their sexuality as an inducement.

I AM NOT BLAMING ANY VICTIM !!

I sure did read your post of off-topic anecdotal garbage about these alleged 'countless women'.

It reminds me of someone bringing up 'black-on-black crime' in the context of a thread about police brutality against people of color.

Hint: If you have to begin and end your comment with a disclaimer, maybe you should think harder before hitting the post button. The bolding and underlining doesn't really help.

YOU brought this up when you decided to post, in a thread about police raping women that "countless women" flash their "boobs or some other form of sexual TEASE". Stop blaming rape victims for their rape!
