Liberal Democratic Mayor Falsely Accused of Being in the KKK.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET!

Statement from Mayor Madeline Rogero.

I’m not even sure this is worth responding to, but for the record: There is a list circulating online purporting to “out” elected officials as members of the KKK. For reasons unfathomable to me or anyone who knows me, my name is on the list. Given my background, my interracial family, my public record and my personal beliefs, this would be hilarious except that it is probably being seen by a lot of people who have no idea who I am.
So, just to be clear, for anyone who doesn’t know me: Don’t be ridiculous. I began my political career working for the rights of farm workers with Cesar Chavez. I have spent decades working for causes of social justice and equality. As Mayor, I have pushed for diversity in our workforce and outreach to and inclusion of people of all backgrounds in our community. In concert with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper program, I began the Save Our Sons initiative to increase opportunities and reduce violence-related deaths among boys and young men of color. I have advocated publicly for LGBT civil rights, and I was the only mayor in Tennessee to sign onto the mayors’ amicus brief for the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court’s marriage equality case. In short, I don’t think the KKK would want anything to do with me.
I strongly request that anyone associated with the creation and dissemination of this false and defamatory accusation retract it immediately. It is irresponsible and slanderous. (Although, on a positive note, I do appreciate that they are using a picture of me from 12 years ago. Very flattering!)

The original list was put out by the "Anonymous" hackers. Of course there are people who will add names to the list for various reasons. I'll bet at least 5,000 Americans have email messages that say something like, "Hey, Dave! Nice to see you made the list!" Haha. Funny joke. It's not so funny when someone does it this way, I an attempt to smear a public official they don't like.

3. Her name and address were found in KKK databases. That does not automatically mean she's a member.

They might also have lists of political 'targets' in their databases.

When I design databases nowadays, I store all addresses in a single table, no matter for what purpose I'm using various addresses. It's simply more efficient and elegant than creating multiple address tables for each separate type of address I'm storing.

Just like we don't know that any of the names were found in any database.

This is all so stupid.

There are maybe 5,000 KKK member in the entire country, and they probably belong to some loose affiliation of rednecks who are also their cousins.

There is for no practical purpose a "national" KKK in 2015.

So, what the hell are they even hacking?

as insurance in case something like the anonymous attack happens

i fully expect every single one of these "outed" public figures to protest their inclusion, whether legitimately or not

I don't believe any of it unless anon has something to back it up.

Are these guys looking at Daniel Carver's mailing list?

If that's the case, all they've done is discovered a bunch of radical Howard Stern listeners.

Mayor Jim Gray of Lexington, KY is quite unlikely to really be a KKK member, though he is said to be on this "list", since he's an openly gay Democrat.

Like Free Republic, it's really only one step away from an Alex Jones conspiracy site.

It's easier to believe that Joe Wilson has power because he made a blood oath to a secret society that runs the country than to believe that a half-bright yokel can just get elected to Congress.
