Mine is set to Notify but don't download. hobbit709 Nov 2015 #1
Well, yes. This post pretty much applies only to the "notify, but don't download" crowd. n/t dogknob Nov 2015 #2

from win7 on my desktop, and from win8.1 on my laptop.
Download and installation took about an hour each.
(after 'imaging' 7&8 with Macrium Reflect so I could trash 10 if needed.)
Have had 'zero' problems.
All third party apps and associated files are in place.
All browser bookmarks in place.
All e-mail addys in place.
All music and photos in place.
I share a dropbox account and it's all there/useable.
I didn't create an MS account and have no use for their offerings.
The only 'cloud' feature I use is a shared dropbox and it's all there/useable.
You are correct in choosing 'Warn me but don't download' about updates.

Anyway, I've found 10 to be good and not at all like the perceived horror stories.

You can remove all the spy shit if you buy Enterprise.

Did you read the article? M$ is admitting all this stuff.
