Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Friday will begin running radio ads targeting black voters with a rap song, ABC News reports.
The $150,000 buy will air the ad in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Birmingham, Jackson, Memphis, and Little Rock for two weeks, according to ABC.
This happens to be a group that we feel pretty strongly is ready and prepared to start working for Ben Carson, spokesman Doug Watts said, according to the report.
Carson is not the first candidate to employ rhymes on the campaign trail. Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry launched his campaign with a rap/country fusion number.

(109,000 posts)There is no such thing as a Rethug who is too dumb to be President. They're so much easier to handle when they know they don't have the experience. The same puppet masters who handled Reagan through his Alzheimers will have no problem using Carson as a front man.
And the racists will have no problem voting for this soft-spoken, non-threatening black man. In fact, they'll pat themselves on the back for their good judgment.

(3,263 posts)with Bush II the Hispanic vote split(40%). Would hate to think surnames would draw identity but who knows
Not sure Carson could split AA vote that much but he will try

(109,000 posts)No matter who he picks for VP he will be a powerful opponent.
None of the GOP voters will notice or care how dumb he is.

(109,000 posts)Look at what just happened in Houston. The more religious African American and Hispanic voters helped to vote down the anti-discrimination law -- in a city with a lesbian mayor.
We could easily lose a good chunk of minority voters if we don't have a candidate who can appeal to those who take their faith seriously.

(25,586 posts)when this Carson rap story came out. Laughed my ass off listening to that song on Dr. Demento as a kid.
Of course, as a kid I actually liked Reagan. Luckily I grew out of that by the time I was old enough to vote, largely due to Pacifica Radio.

(6,568 posts)Conservative rappers (that rap about politics) are hard to come by. Prince Ea is the only one who comes to mind, and he has the WORST flow I've ever heard.
