Charges for 2 Connecticut Students Said to Have Dressed Like Columbine Killers
Two high school students in western Connecticut were arrested on Wednesday after they were said to have worn Halloween costumes that looked like the gunmen responsible for the Columbine mass killings in 1999 and threatened to harm other students, the authorities said.
The State Police said they responded to the threat of a hostile event at Litchfield High School on Monday. Troopers later obtained arrest warrants for two students, both male juveniles, who were arrested on Wednesday and charged with inciting injury to persons or property and breach of peace. They were taken into custody in Litchfield and sent to a juvenile detention center, officials said in a statement. Officials did not say what specific threats they were accused of making.
The boys behavior was reported to the faculty by people concerned about safety, according to the State Police, and the faculty members reported them to the authorities. During their investigation, troopers learned that the boys had made threats of bodily harm to other students, the State Police said.
Connecticut state troopers take all threats to harm others, especially at schools, very seriously, the police said. Troopers remind citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
