For instance, AB-FUBINACA was responsible for a spate of recent poisonings at Wesleyan University. And MAB-CHMINACA was associated with more than 100 hospitalizations in Baton Rouge. Neither of these drugs were known to the scientific community until late last year.
These drugs are synthetic cannabinoids several of the hundreds that have been identified as new designer drugs in the past five years. More than 150 were reported in 2013 alone, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). And police, doctors, scientists and lawmakers are all struggling to identify these new drugs as they hit the streets.
What are synthetic cannabinoids?
Synthetic cannabinoids are molecules designed to mimic the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. Like THC, these synthetic cannabinoids target the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R) in the brain, which is responsible for the psychoactive effects of THC in cannabis.

(2,975 posts)Fake pot. Decent buzzbut no pain relief or lack of anxiety. A science roomy amd I looked it over carefully. Bit of marygold, but of wormswood, bit of mug wort. I called it 'elven smoke' but it was bitter and not a good time.

(39,215 posts)since they started using. They are always broke - are not following through on their responsibilities to their children and don't really care.
Having said that I don't know if this stuff is as bad as these two make it look but if it is we should stick to the real thing.

Several weeks ago Tulsa had a outbreak of bad salt.
A high school, a community college and several streets and buildings were closed downtown.
I believe the original number of people taken to the hospital was 18. The were mostly homeless, more than likely mentally challenged, alcoholic or both.
I think the fact that it was on every news channel, radio, and computer led some *idiots* to go out and seek it.
There were more cases the next day.
