Those of us who were around then know that there was significant concern about global warming, climate change, and environmental consequences to unregulated pollution. It is, after all, why the EPA was founded. That those who stood to lose profits by regulation made a distinct effort to obfuscate, obscure, and bury these concerns should come as no surprise. That the politicians owned by them would take the money and run should equally come as no surprise. As a nation, we have chosen to sit on our tails and bury our heads in the sand, and anyone who was paying attention should have been aware of this lang syne. So that this "revelation" provokes such outcry confuses me. And do the poor innocents also believe that Exxon is the only corporation to have acted thus? No, they're the only ones who got caught -- so far.

Have more interests in common with Mr. Honest Man than interest in the commons themselves.

Not only have many chosen to bury their own heads in the sand, they are helping to bury other heads as well.

Representative Democracy through Publicly Funded Elections! Otherwise, the PTB will continue buying our politicians and preventing any meaningful change in our direction. They will continue their efforts to take more and more from us while making our planet uninhabitable.

People do not realize how much money they have and what that money can do. I have watched it corrupt our legal system while we try, ineffectually, to hold them accountable. BP got Obama to bless a fake deal with a fake "Independant" head (the judge later ruled that Ken Feinberg had always been BP's representative) of Gulf Coast Claims Facility, and his 20 billion dollar fund (there was never 20 billion in an account). They promised Obama that the oil spill would get off of the front page before the 2010, mid-term election. Obama gave them the Coast Guard to parrot whatever BP said and to spray Corexit to sink the oil to the bottom, out of sight!

To get rid of Feinberg who was now actually paying some claims, and to avoid a trial with Haliburton and Trans Ocean, BP approached the Plaintiff's Steering Committee (PSC) who were appointed by their friend the judge to represent all victims and told them that BP would pay them $600,000,000 if they would get their friend the judge to grant a continuance of their trial, fire Feinberg and freeze all settlements negotiations for 4 months, and agree to a one-sided Class Action Settlement. The kicker was, the PSC doesn't get the six hundred million dollars unless and until the Class Action Settlement makes it through without being overturned. That is why 75% of the victims are getting NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA!

The victims who opted out of the Class Settlement and sued BP had their cases automatically sent to the judge in NOLA. There they have sat gathering dust. The judge will not let go of them to go back to the courts where they were filed and be tried. No reason, just won't let them go.

Meanwhile, the government was asked to revoke BP's probation for the explosion (11 more deaths) and spill. BP had pled to a felony in the BP Texas City explosion that killed 15 and injured six thousand in 2005. Eric Holder told us no and let them off EARLY instead. The government refused to make BP resolve the victims claims before drilling again, something other countries do routinely. They settled with BP and allowed BP to pay off over 18 years and most of the settlement will be tax deductible (we pay for it)!!!

If you are Wall Street, the MIC, Big Pharma, or an oil company, you are above the law, pay few taxes, if any, and can get away with whatever scam you can dream up. You have the poor and middle class pay for everything and they receive less and less. This is life under corporate rule in America. They bought their Revolution and took control over our government while they had us distracted fighting each other. They have used their media oligopoly to brainwash huge segments of our society into thinking their problems were caused by "Liberals" and government. They have Democrats blaming Republicans while they buy off our Democratic politicians. That's where "spineless" Democrats were born.

Bernie is the first national politician to call bull shit on the whole deal. He is asking for our help to end the corruption caused by campaign bribes. Most of our problems can be traced to this root problem of our politicians selling us out in exchange for campaign donations. He wants us to spread the word and pressure our Representatives into doing their jobs by threatening their jobs. He wants to draw others to politics who will put the people first. To restore Representative Democracy and take our country back, ironic huh? Hillary represents a continuation of the status quo. She will throw us some bones on the social side, but only enough to quell the current populism, while simultaneously giving the PTB what they have enjoyed for the last 40 years, control over us.

This is the fight of our generation! We cannot properly deal with Climate Change as long as the PTB maintain control. As long as politicians represent their Donors instead of their constituents we will continue to get screwed, our standard of living will continue to fall, our rights will continue to erode, and our planet will get less and less habitable. This is not a routine election. There is more at stake now that we finally have someone to lead us back to Democracy. I hope you are with me on this fight, I do not believe the Nay Sayers that say he cannot win. It appears that many on both sides, Democrat and Republican, are fed up with our current system and the corruption. This will only grow as time goes by and scams like the TPP are exposed.

Feel the Bern!!!

as long as the judges, juries and prosecuters work for their silent partners in crime.
this is on the US government. those Reagan/Bush CAFE rollbacks and every violent act
committed to further carbon pollution. not just further, but accelerate consumption and waste,
burning oil refineries as military targets, puking the worst forms of petroleum poisons into the global sky,
the local lungs, the land and water. and everything since. Massive oil spills and more to come.

do people fuck the environment to the point of no real return?
corrupt anti-environmental protection bought off governments do.
