MIAMI — An argument over texting at the movies ended in a cellphone user’s death on Monday afternoon when a retired police officer in the audience shot him at a theater near Tampa, Fla., the authorities said.

Two couples were among patrons at a matinee of “Lone Survivor” at the Grove 16 movie theater in Wesley Chapel, about 20 miles northeast of Tampa, when one of the men, a retired Tampa police officer, got angry because the man in front of him was using his phone during the previews, despite being asked to stop several times, said Douglas Tobin, a Pasco County sheriff’s office spokesman.

Man in Theater Shoots Self in Ass
A 56-year-old man whom police say has a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon accidentally shot himself in the buttocks inside the Century 14 movie theaters in downtown Sparks on Tuesday night. No one else was hurt as about 30 people were watching The Bourne Legacy. Witnesses told police the man immediately got up, apologized to those around him, and left the theater before cops arrived. Man accidentally shoots himself at Oklahoma ‘Muslim-free’ gun store
An Oklahoma man accidentally shot himself Tuesday after dropping his firearm in the same gun shop being guarded by armed citizens after it received threats for declaring itself a Muslim-free business.

The unidentified man was inside the Save Yourself Survival and Tactical Gear store in Oktaha when he dropped his .45 Colt revolver, which discharged and shot him in the right arm, according to multiple reports.

Armed citizen’s gun accidentally discharges in front of military recruiting center
LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH)-Police in Lancaster say no one was hurt when a gun of one of the armed citizens guarding a military recruiting center discharged. According to Lancaster police, officers responded Thursday to the military recruiting station in the 1500 block of River Valley Boulevard, on the report of an accidental discharge of a gun. Christopher Reed told police he was standing in front of the military recruiting station with his AR-15 rifle to guard military personal, when a man asked to look at his gun. Reed said he attempted to clear the ammunition from the gun, and accidentally fired it into the pavement.

Boy Shoots Dad in Dressing Room

3 injured when man’s gun goes off in Sanford Cracker Barrel
Deputies said the weapon fell out of the gun owner’s holster while he was walking through the dining room of the Cracker Barrel at 200 Hickman Circle in Sanford.

Deputies said William Hoback was talking to the checkout counter when his gun slipped out of his holster and fired. The bullet hit a kettle, which sent fragments flying.

Three people were hit by the shrapnel, including a restaurant manager and Hoback’s fiancé. The third victim’s leg was badly cut and he had to go to the hospital.

KTUU reports an Anchor Point man accidentally shot himself in the head while handling his gun. Instead of immediately going to the hospital, the man just put Neosporin on the wound for five days. Man Shoots Waitress Telling Him He Cannot Smoke in restaurant
Around 1 a.m. Friday morning, officials say 45-year-old Johnny Max Mount walked into a Biloxi Waffle House on Hwy. 90, near the Coast Coliseum. As other customers dined, Mount reportedly argued with a Waffle House employee, identified by a restaurant spokesperson only as "Julie", who told Mount he couldn't smoke inside the establishment. Following the argument, police say Mount pulled a 9 mm handgun from underneath his shirt, and shot the employee in the head.

The Gazette reports 24-year-old Benjamen Sinclair has been charged with manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Ethan Montoya early Sunday morning. A 911 caller, who said she was the only adult at home with four children, said the victim had been shot in the neck by a shotgun that was left on a table. Rashunn Hill Jr. is charged with culpable negligence for allowing the gun to be within reach of his young son who accidentally shot himself at his home in the Cypress Court Apartments on Seminole Avenue.

Police say Hill left the handgun on top of a couch while he went to work. The child, who was home with his mother at the time of the shooting, discharged the gun and injured his thumb.

Two Shot at Expo Idaho gun show after rifle discharges
For the second time in three years, an accidental gun discharge has injured someone at a gun show at Expo Idaho in Garden City.

A 74-year-old gun vendor from Washington told investigators he was securing a Savage Arms B Mag .17-caliber bolt-action rifle with a plastic zip tie when the weapon discharged, an Ada County Sheriff’s Office official said. There was a shell in the rifle, and he mistakenly fired it, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr. The bullet went through a cardboard box, two table covers and a metal cane, then struck the leg of the 51-year-old holding the cane and the leg of a 64-year-old man standing nearby.
