Oops. Elizabeth Warren's staff returned my contribution.

According to their letter, my check to them, drawn on my personal account, "appears to be from a prohibited source." Prohibited sources, they point out, include corporations, national banks, foreign nationals, etc. I'm certain that I'm not a corporation or a national bank, and last I looked, the Confederacy was dissolved about 150 years ago, so I'm rather confident I'm not a foreign national (no foreign address or account appears on the check either).

So I guess the Warren campaign considers late-middle-aged guys from the South to be prohibited sources.

I sent the check back, asking them to reconsider.

I don't want to go through the rest of my life as a prohibited source

The one time I ran into her, she seemed bright enough to know the difference between a personal check and a company check. Her staff is obviously not quite as gifted.

It was drawn on my personal account from my local bank in Dallas. When I send checks to the States, I always use my personal account in Dallas. I only have the one account in the States, and no checks on my euro account here in Germany, so no confusion even possible.

You, know, right next door to Liechtenstein and the Cayman Islands.

I usually do all this stuff from my brother's house when I'm there visiting. Over here I seldom have time. I didn't even see this for 3 weeks. It was in a package of mail I got from Dallas that I hadn't had time to look through.

But even so, Virginia hasn't been "foreign" since Lee surrendered at Appomattox, far as I recall.

Besides, who're you calling a spook?

That is a nice memory of our political situation! And I would consider it an honor to be a prohibited source. Congrats!

Even though Citizens United makes a complete farce out of it. I am just baffled at their inability to recognize a person check when they get one.

Anyway, I'll see if I remain a prohibited source to them. If so, then I'll send the money to Al Franken or someone like that.

Just ask half the posters on DU (or 99% of the ones on one of the candidates' boards). They KNOW!!

Probably on the list of a few gubmints, too. It's now 6:10 AM and I have to be in Paris in 6 hours. Can I worry about all that AFTER breakfast?
