Annoyed that my husbands premium is going up 127.00 and his subsidy stays the same. We also have to meet yet another 6,000.00 deductible starting January first. We started his plan last April when his FMLA ran out. So, another 6,000.00!!!
My husband is dying. He is on a liver and kidney transplant list. He hasn't been able to work in almost a year because of his illness. He is stage four failure. We must keep insurance in order to keep him listed. Medicare takes two years. He takes close to 16 medications a day. Another 1200.00 deductible for MEDS!
While I am grateful that he has been able to procure insurance with his pre-existing condition I am so damn angry that his premium is going up and his wages are non-existent! Why didn't his subsidy increase? Angry... I may have to take a part time job in addition to working 45-50 hours a week to help pay for his care.
I'm feeling very stressed out right now!

Sorry to hear about the increase in the tax on us Americans. Same thing is being reported by so many folks I know here - their wages are not going up but their premiums sure are!

(17,047 posts)My main issue and why I am most annoyed is that we are not making any more money, we are making LESS and the premium went UP. I cannot change plans because we have to be insured with a transplant, any changes in insurance could cause a major fiasco with the listing protocol. His health cannot afford to wait. It takes months to get the insurance to agree to a double transplant.
I'll look into it again, but it seems unlikely that we will get him on medicare. Thank you for your post. I am just stressed out and venting!

(22,651 posts)$40 when it first started, then $70, then $140 & this year $260. HMO so-Limited to 1 Doctor, one clinic and any RX from that clinic only. They also added a drug deductible. So I changed to a different Corp. at 200 a month. In Texas there were only 8 silver plans to choose from, I wanted to get out of that Humana HMO that limited me to that one clinic only for everything. Only 2 were not HMOs.
New one is not so great either , there are only 4 Doctors on the list. I travel to different states all the time. Nothings covered if you're sick out of 'network' except emergency room.
It's good to have insurance I can afford, but I have never used it even once. Lucky to be a healthy person. The networks are to small, its third class basic insurance for humans and a cash bonanza of Federal money to Insurance Corps.
